The proximal pad slides along the parallel rods, bringing the PIP and DIP joints together. To fit into the splint, at least 90Β° PIP flexion and 45Β° DIP passive flexion is needed. The rods can be trimmed using wire cutters. The proximal and distal pads are covered with soft foam padding for comfort and minimal finger slippage. I now have 58 degrees of deflection in my dips and she and the doc were shocked. Didn't tell them I got this BTW. After 5.5 months of PT, I had my last visit and plan to keep pushing passive stretching with this splint until I get my full range of motion back or get hurt trying.
