Q: Does this display support HDR?

Xbox does not support HDR on 1080p screens. Xbox only supports HDR with 4K screens, even if the 1080p screen claims to be HDR-capable. You need a screen controller and panel that supports a peak luminance of 400 cd/m2 to be HDR capable. This results in high power consumption. The xScreen was designed to be powered by USB without any cables. Due to the limitations of USB power, the HDR feature is not possible on the xScreen. Even if the Xbox were compatible with HDR at 1080p, supporting HDR on USB power would not be feasible. All components' power usage, including the panel and speakers, must support the USB power limits. The brighter the screen, the higher the power drawn. The xScreen has a brightness of 350 nits.

Q: Do you have to plug the xbox power supply into an outlet at all times?

This question doesn’t make sense, as an Xbox would have to plugged in all the time to run. The screen plugs into the HDMI port and into the adjacent USB-A port for power, thus, the only thing you have to plug in is the X-Box itself, if that helps. Of course, if you are not using the Xbox, than you don’t have to plug it in. An important side note, this screen does not allow for use of the Ethernet port. So your only option for online play using this screen is via Wi-Fi
