It works alright for the low frequency wifi band but for the 5G the NUC is not a good receiver if your computer is in a different room than the wifi. There is a solution that involves drilling holes in the case and getting external connectors, but this device easily plugs into the USB3 in the back and works without downloads on Windows 10 (Pro). You end up with 2 wifis, and Windows 10 separates them into a wifi and wifi2. Actually, my NUC PC was able to detect the 5G with the original built in card (wifi) once this device was plugged in to the USB3, without switching to wifi2. That raises the question, could an antenna with no electronics at all could somehow work? Anyway, this works well so far, but time will tell. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ MAC OS X 10.13+ *by D***N on Reviewed in the United States on September 22, 2018* I bought this adapter because i got tired of the horrible Wifi range on my MacBook Pro 2014.I have MacOSX 10.14 Beta on my Macbook ,so I installed the drivers ,but the 3rd party Wifi application doesn't work.Only way i got it to work is using the WPS through the router and just PBC.EDIT: Finally got it working on MacOS X 10.14 Mojave BETA ,but it takes a lot of messing with and you have to download different drivers and cross install. ### ⭐⭐ Not good for laptops *by M***B on Reviewed in the United States on March 24, 2019* This device worked fine, at first, in our laptop. but with the weight of the device pushing down on the USB port all the time, bad things started happening. First, the plastic shell covering the device split in half like it was barely glued together. I wrapped that very carefully and tightly with electrical tape to hold the shell together. After a couple of months, the weight of this device stretched the electrical tape (4 or 5 wraps around the shell) so the device sagged noticeably. It wasn't too long after that that the metal USB connector came completely out of the shell which made the device useless. the problem with this design is the weight of the device in a horizontally aligned USB port.
