I am fairly strong but a little out of shape, and I think I could have still gotten a pretty good workout with the 2 lb. They recommended starting with the 4 lb and not going right to the 6 lb or 8 lb, and I would too, even if you are in peak physical shape. This activates a different range of muscles and it does take some getting used to. Great product. I got it to increase my range of motion in my shoulders and to loosen up with before playing golf. Review: I am an old guy (nearly 68). I have been using the 4-pounder for a year now and recently (at the behest of my trainer) bought the 2-pounder for some different exercises to improve mobility in my shoulders. This product is excellent for mobility exercises and for strength exercises.
