Great product for the price.
Used this kit to upgrade an old Washburn shadow series bass. All the parts appear to be good quality. I definitely like the included vintage style cloth wiring. Paired with some Fender P Bass original pickups, my bass sounds amazing. The pots work as expected and after shielding the electronics route and pick guard, my bass is dead silent, no hiss even at high volume. The included wiring diagram is off. The jump wire going between the pots is not in the right spot. It basically turns the tone pot into the volume pot with no range, and the other pot is useless. I didn’t subtract a star because the product is great, just google how to wire it. - Update - I've been using my bass with this kit installed for going on 6 months now and still no issues. still works and sounds great. I'm playing through an old Ampeg 1000 watt head, an Acugrove 12' combo cab and a home built 1x15" cab. Biamped or mono (full range) I can't get the bass to hiss or the pots to scratch even at volume levels that rattle the neighbor's windows. some things I forgot to mention, this kit will not fit in most import guitars without some minor modification. the tone and volume pots will require control knobs that fit 1/4" solid shaft pots. the cloth covered wire is meant to be pushed back, not stripped. the tone cap is pretty big. Unless you are using active pickups you will never have anywhere close to 400 volts running through your instrument. if you are having trouble fitting it in your control cavity, get a smaller one. same value but 200 volts (or less).

Great product
I replaced the internal electronics of a Mexican Precision Bass with this. Everything went smoothly, and the bass sounds a bit better. The stock electronics are cheap and produce static when adjusting the knobs - with this wiring kit there is no more static. Other reviews I read indicated two issues. First, that the knobs (potentiometers) were the wrong size for the holes in the pick guard. I had no problem - these slide right in and work fine. If they did not, I was ready to grab my drill and enlarge the holes very slightly. There are collars (similar to washers but look different) that go around the knob on the outside of the potentiometers, so even if you made the holes a little too big they should still grip and stay in place. Second, I heard the wiring diagram was incorrect. I kept the stock electronics as reference and wired it up according to the chart. Everything worked fine, and I threw out the old electronics. Maybe there was a defect in the documentation they fixed? I do not know. I recommend keeping the stock electronics around just in case, until you are confident that everything works correctly. You will need a soldering iron and the skill to use it to install this product. You will need to be confident in your ability to handle small wires in a tight location as well. If you have a non-U.S. P-bass and want to improve the sound, I highly recommend this product as well as a set of Fender humbucker pickups: they sell pickups made specifically for this bass (I bought mine on Amazon but can't seem to find the link right now). The primary difference between the U.S. and Mexico P-basses is the electronics and pickups - the import basses are cheaper because of the labor cost but also because of the poor electrical components. If you replace the cheap electronics with better ones, you can get the U.S. quality for the price of the import plus around $100, which is still cheaper than the U.S. version.

worked great for my retro p-bass project
worked great for my retro p-bass project. Fits perfectly - not much room left. The Cap is large but if you follow the direction sheet is shows the cap being soldered "between " the tone (second lug on the pot) and then to the back of the volume pot (grounded) so it fits between the two pots. If you solder it so it's on top of the tone pot it will be to tall to fit. Nice cap and tone pot - gives a nice smooth, retro p-bass sound and not to much treble but just enough. The pots are smooth feeling and no snags - maybe a bit too loose but get used to it and don't need force to turn them. Cloth covered wires are nice - take a while to cut off the cloth covering. I used an exacto knive - cut around the inner wire. The wires are heavy enough - solid piece - so no problem with accidentally cutting through. All-in-all a great upgrade from the stock wiring and a noticeable improvement.

Fit with Modification
Got this to put on a cheap Squiar P-Bass that had been badly abused, the wiring on the old knobs was so mangled and poorly soldered I really had no choice but to buy a new wiring kit entirely. Wired everything up (first real soldering job I've done and I didn't burn the house down!!) and my bass sounds much better than it ever did before, even with strings that have been sitting for 2 years. A diagram came with everything, helped me out a bunch because google images sure wasn't giving me a straight answer on how to wire the old harness. A few gripes though, as someone else said the black/white wires were not easy to strip as they had a cloth material around them. I'm sure it probably insulates the wire better and all but it was a bit difficult to work with. Others have also already said the capacitor is huge and difficult to fit in the cut, but I had no problem after cutting to size. The only real issue I had was the tone/volume controls back ends were bigger (both the overall diameter and the knob bars) and that's actually what kept me from being able to push everything back down into place. I'm sure this is because it's a Squiar not a Fender. Ended up drilling out and sanding down the inside cavity for them to fit. Put the pickguard back on and it's hardly noticable. Lastly, the thicker knob bars (?) also would not let me fit my old knobs. I will probably just leave them as is. They definitely turn smoothly and feel well made as they should. All problems aside the quality of the parts is excellent and it should have no problem fitting onto a real FENDER Pbass. I will be sure to keep TAOT in mind when I decide to upgrade my guitar.

These parts are high quality at a good price. Perfect for upgrading those copycat basses, good clean strong signal to the amp now. Honestly, with these pots etc. and a good set of pickups you can upgrade your bass to a top of the line instrument.

I thought it works as advertised, sounds and works great.. I just feel it was a little overpriced, found similar in a local Music Store for half the price..
