A Cyper monday purchase
Due to Microsoft dropping support for Win 7, as of January 2020, I needed to replace my wife's 7 year old, home built computer. I decided to buy one this go around. So after months of research, using all resources, I settled on the HP Pavilion 590-p0070. It had all the right specs, that my wife needed. Now I started looking for the best deal available.Good old AMAZON to the rescue. At the time they had the best price, but availability was dwindling and cyber Mondaywas away off, but decided to take my chances. Cyber Monday morning, went on line and bingo, so I pulled the trigger.Thank you Amazon. That day made the value of this computer rise and affordability with it. My wife got her Christmas present. The other advantage was, by using my Amazon.com card, I have 1 year 0% interest. My Christmas present. Now for the review.I would have given this system a 5 star, but for the DVD player issue.1st. Every reviewer that criticized the DVD player was correct. I can't believe a company with the resources of HP, would install a player so cheaply made on a computer with these specs. It was because of the specs, that I ignored that part of the reviews and purchased.2nd. Placed in its vertical position, vs horizontal, it is almost impossible to load a dvd, when the computer is under a work station vs on a desktop. We don't have space on top.In addition, I had one other problem, and that was this the system did not recognize the player. So I decided to call HP Support."KUDOS" to HP support. I know we hear a lot about customer dis-service, but this was not the case. It did take two phone calls. Both were answered quickly and the issue was resolved. On both calls, the Techs were friendly, concerned, and patient.Since then, we have enjoyed the flawless performance of this HP.It is silent in operation and extremely fast. Downloads and updates done in record time.Initial setup was straight forward for both Microsoft and HP updates. My peripherals and Internet were recognized by the system with no issues. My wife does like the wireless keyboard and mouse and is happy about her Christmas gift. She also like the look of the front panel. Thank goodness, Tough lady to buy for.The computer has been in continuous operation for about 7 weeks. Hopefully , like my home built, it also will last 7 years. There have been no issues. The DVD player works fine, and we are both extremely satisfied with this HP model and it performance.I don't know how long this model will be available, and other then the DVD player issue, I definitely recommend this HP model.

Very good computer.
The HP Pavilion Desktop 590-p0070,is a very good computer. It has enough USB plugs so you shouldn't need a USB hub. It also has USB C if you need it. I replaced the hd drive with a SSD 1 terabyte drived, and upped the memory from 12 GB to 16 GB. I have had no problems with it. I am using a screen reader and am not shure the star ratings came through, so I will put them here. I rated the computer 4 stars because of the keyboard that came with it. They have taken away the numlock key and made it a paste key. I can't use the keyboard because I need to bee able to turn the numlock off for some keystrokes used with screen readers. I had to buy another keyboard so I could use the computer. Other than that, the computer is a very good buy, and I would recommend it.Larry

Fast and Good Looking
Just now in the process of setting this computer up. While it was delivered quickly, I have been otherwise engaged until now. This is a replacement for a previous HP Windows 7 computer that was not compatible with Windows 10, and so far seems great. The computer has a smaller footprint than my previous Pavilion tower and the speed is amazing. The 12GB RAM and the 1TB hard drive will more than suit my needs. Hopefully, when I have all my programs, data and virus protection installed it will continue to be much faster than the computer I am replacing.

Great computer - watrch out for Windows10 One Drive backup to the cloud
Love the computer - good price and lots of capability. Small footprint, many ports. Overall - I am very happy with it.Not happy at all that Windows 10 automatically backed up all my files to the One Drive cloud when I migrated them from my old desktop. Perhaps there was as setting that I missed, but I am old school and preferred to keep all my personal files on my local hard drive. (Plus, the auto transfer immediately filled up my One Drive data limit!)

Great gaming machine (after some easy mods)
Great processor, so-so RAM in the beginning but so very easy to update. So easy to install more RAM. We also added a one terabyte SSD drive and that also helps with the speed.Installed an Nvidia 1660 video card and found power supply didn't have the 8 pin power connector the card needs but rather a 6 pin connector. Amazon to the rescue as they have adapted available. Once installed, this machine is a great gaming machine.Good price, small footprint and a cool running (even with gaming graphics set to 'ultra'), quiet machine.

Not an expert w/computer
I purchased this product because Windows 7 will be discontinued in JAN. 2020. Windows 10 is more complex and I must learn to manipulate w/tech support I've been receiving from outside sources. I believe this product was my best choice. It's less weight and less bulky underneath my desk. Also, it is compatible w/other products I've purchased from Amazon. So I recommend it for a person like myself.

Doesn't work right but too late now...
I bought this when my 8 year old PC bit the dust. I wanted a CD rom, because I use some software that is still loaded via CD. The CD Rom on this does not work. It doesn't spin, it doesn't load, it isn't recognized in the file directory like a USB drive is. It's just a decoration on the front of a pretty silver box. That being said, I did not load that software first. First I transferred all my old files from my hard drive to the new PC. So, now I have this all set up with my files (word docs, pictures, everything I need) but can't load the software I want and need.Is it worth it to return it? Probably not. Is it a bummer the CD rom doesn't work? ABSOLTELY! My bad for not trying it first.PS -- Yes, I am aware they make external CD Rom drives. I just don't want to buy one since I chose this model specifically because it had one.

NOT FOR ME
I DON'T LIKE NOT HAVING A TOWER. I LIKE HAVING THE ABILITY TO PLAY CD'S OR DVD'S AND I DON'T HAVE THAT OPTION. THE SOUND IS NOT THAT LOUD AND I HAD TO BUY SPEAKERS. I MUCH PREFER A COMPUTER WITH A TOWER AND WILL NOT BUY AN ALL IN ONE COMPUTER AGAIN. NOTHING IS WRONG WITH IT, IT'S JUST PERSONAL PREFERENCE.
