KitchenAid Meat Grinder Attachment and the Dawn of a New Era in the Art of Butchery
A Testament to Craftsmanship: The KitchenAid Meat Grinder Attachment and the Dawn of a New Era in the Art of Butchery There are moments in a man’s life when he is struck with a realization so profound that it alters the course of his days from that moment forward. These are not always grand, sweeping epiphanies—sometimes, they arrive in the quiet sanctum of one’s own kitchen, in the hush of a winter afternoon, with the steady hum of a KitchenAid stand mixer turning, its gears whispering the promise of transformation. It was on such a day that I first laid hands upon the KitchenAid Meat Grinder Attachment, and in doing so, I felt, at once, the weight of history and the boundless promise of the future. For this was not just an attachment, not merely a device for the mundane act of grinding meat—this was a tool forged in the grand tradition of our forebears, a steel-born bridge spanning generations, uniting the artisan butchers of yesteryear with the modern hands of today. The Arrival: A Ceremony of Destiny It came to me in a package both unassuming and yet imbued with the quiet dignity of something built with care. As I opened it, I could not help but marvel at the weight of it—the gleaming metal auger, the sturdy cutting plates, the precision-engineered grinding discs. There was nothing superfluous here, no gaudy embellishments to distract from its purpose. It was pure function, pure craftsmanship, an instrument designed with the singular intention of turning raw material into something greater, something sublime. Attaching it to my stand mixer, I felt as though I were engaging in a ritual of old, as if I had inherited some secret knowledge from the artisans of another age. The act of fastening the grinder into place was not merely mechanical; it was a solemn pledge to do justice to the ingredients laid before me. The Trial: A Dance of Steel and Flesh I placed before it a cut of beef—not just any cut, but one selected with care, with purpose, with reverence. This was no pre-ground, shrink-wrapped mediocrity, no pallid supermarket offering bearing the weight of its factory-born indifference. This was meat as it was meant to be: fresh, unmarred, possessing that vital spark of something real. With a flick of the switch, the KitchenAid hummed to life, and as the auger turned, as the blade met flesh, I witnessed something elemental, something almost poetic unfold before me. The meat moved through the mechanism not with struggle, but with grace, yielding itself to the inevitability of its transformation. And what emerged? Not the grainy, pallid fare of store-bought mediocrity, but something rich, something full-bodied, something imbued with the soul of the ingredients from which it came. Each ribbon of ground meat fell into my waiting hands like strands of silk, each morsel bearing the unmistakable mark of care and attention. This was no mere grinding of meat—this was the forging of something greater, the shaping of sustenance with the hands of an artist. The Results: A Revelation in Texture and Taste What followed was not just a meal. It was a revelation. With this grinder, I crafted burgers of such unparalleled succulence, their juices carried the very essence of the beef from which they were born. I made sausages, their casings plump with hand-ground filling, their flavors richer, deeper, more honest than anything I had ever known. I experimented—chicken, pork, even lamb—all met the grinder’s keen edge, and all emerged elevated, refined, transformed. The attachment did not merely grind; it honored the ingredient, respected it, elevated it to its highest possible form. The Legacy: A Return to Tradition It is a strange truth that in an age of convenience, where every conceivable comfort is but a store shelf away, we have drifted so far from the art of knowing what we eat. We have become spectators in our own kitchens, passive consumers of a process we once commanded with our own hands. But here, in this meat grinder attachment, lies something more than utility—it is a reclamation, a return to the traditions of those who came before us. For with every turn of the auger, with every grind of the blade, we are reminded that food is not simply something to be consumed, but something to be crafted, shaped, and cherished. And in this, the KitchenAid Meat Grinder Attachment does not simply perform a task; it restores a lost connection between man and sustenance, between the hands that prepare and the hands that partake. The Final Verdict: An Heirloom in the Making There are some tools that enter a kitchen and remain mere tools. And then there are those—rare, exceptional, extraordinary—that become indispensable companions in the lifelong pursuit of great food. The KitchenAid Meat Grinder Attachment is the latter. It is not merely a device, nor is it simply an accessory—it is a legacy waiting to be built, an instrument of transformation that will not only elevate your cooking, but change the very way you think about what you eat. Five stars. A thousand, if they would allow it. If this machine were to be passed down through the generations, I have no doubt that my great-grandchildren would speak of it in hushed reverence, as one speaks of legends and great works of art. For this is not just a grinder—it is the very embodiment of culinary craftsmanship.

Have only used it once, but was really pleased
I was prepared to be less-than-thrilled with this grinder because it is one of the least expensive ones listed on Amazon. However, I was very pleasantly surprised when I used it. Note: I have only used it once, but it worked great for what I needed. I used it to grind cooked chicken, so I can't comment on how it does with uncooked meat. We have a 20-year-old cat with one tooth and dietary issues, so about once a month, we cook her some chicken, cut it up into very fine pieces, add some supplements, and freeze most of it for use throughout the month (she has that for dinner every night). I had been cutting/dicing the chicken by hand...a monotonous exercise that took me about 3 hours each month. Using the grinder, I had the chicken ground and the grinder cleaned up in less than an hour. The grinder seems to be well-made, it was easy to use, and easy to clean. For the price, and for my limited requirements, I am very happy with it.

So easy to use
I could not believe how easy this meat grinder is to use. I literally took it out of the box washed it and put it on the mixer. Turned on the mixer and it started grinding the meat without any effort. I was excepting to hear the grinder grinding and it was very quiet. My meat was 1/2 frozen I cut the meat into squares and it went through the grinder without a problem. As you can see in the picture the meat was ground perfectly and I did not have to run it through again. One time was enough. I have wanted a meat grinder for quite some time and I am very glad I purchased this one. Now when I go to the store I will not have to ask the butcher to grind some meat for me or have them tell me the grinder is not working. This grinder was very easy to clean, comes with one bush and a cleaning tool to make cleaning easier. This will be one kitchen I will not mind getting out to use.

Easy!
I love this and I wish I would have bought it sooner. It is so easy to use. Take it out of the box, wash it, reassemble and its’ ready to go. It places easily on the mixer- it has a notch on the base to make sure you place it on the mixer correctly. I read some tips about cutting the meat into strips and putting it into the freezer for a few minutes. This worked like a charm. On my first try I ground a tip roast and it made beautiful ground beef. The mixer does all the work- all you need to do is feed the meat into the hopper. I used a lower speed to make sure I knew what I was doing. I can’t wait to see how the burgers turn out! I will definitely use this a lot.

Great sturdy choice to grind meat with your KitchenAid
Just got this delivered today, washed all the parts, and assembled. The directions are mostly clear, but don't say what direction to insert the grinding knives in, nor whether there's a difference between the two supplied. I'm guessing the direction didn't matter and that there's no difference between, but who knows. It easily attached to my KitchenAid Professional 5" Plus series mixer accessory power hub and ground up some beef chuck just fine. There are a handful of different parts to take apart and clean, and keep track of, but there's probably no way around that. Even though the product is made of a lot of plastic, the interior grinding parts seem to be a hefty metal. For the price of 1/3 to 1/5 of the name brand option, this one is totally worth it. We'll have to see how it holds up over time.

Grinding potatoes
We have a potato recipe we use, which requires grinding raw potatoes in the old fashion metal (counter attached) grinder. Those grinders are hard to find, not easy to use and take some time. We decided to purchase this attachment specifically for that purpose. It works GREAT! I found a wonderful process .... I peal the potatoes, dice into very small pieces, place in cold water. When I am ready to grind the potatoes I simply take them out of the water and place in the grinder. They are ground in minutes! A process that used to take me 15 minutes now takes less than 3. We are very happy with this attachment. If we don't use it for anything else, it met our purpose and was well worth it!!

DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN,DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN,DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN the capture nut! Listen to the motor.
Like: I guess the price, but you get what you pay for. I grind a lot of meat and make a lot of sausage with my family. I bought this as a 3rd grinder to get my 200 plus lbs. of meat ground up quicker. How tight you make the nut with respect to the grinding plate and blades is critical. Dislike: I found that as I used the grinder that the nut would loosen and I would have to re-tighten the nut to retain a good interface between the blade and grinding plate. I ended up modifying the capture nut by adding a knurled set screw, now MUCH better but not perfect. Oh and in the photo labeled Picture#4 you can see that the blades are a little short and the meat is more shredded than ground coming from this area. Note: Like I said I have 2 other (all metal Kitchen Aid based) grinders that I have had and used for 40+ years. Their nuts don't back off , but nut tightness is still essential. TIP: Listen to your motor. When your setting up your grinder, leave the nut semi-loose and turn on the motor, slowly tighten the capture nut till the motor starts to change pitch, then stop, DON'T crank the heck out of it, over tightening just damages stuff. My2 Cents.
