Others have said what I am going to summarize, which is that you can't really go wrong with this stereo. It has a great balance of features, function, ease-of-use, price, and aesthetics—and at the time of this review, all for about $120. I bought this as a housewarming gift for a friend who wanted a radio in her kitchen so she can listen to music while she prepares dinner. She's not tech-savvy and wanted good sound in a small size that she could put on her counter. She's not an audiophile but loves music. She also wanted something that "would have a good Bluetooth that doesn't drop off all the time or amplify the sound of text messages." Here's where the Spotify Connect and internet radio right out of the box make life easy. Setting up with WiFi took just a few minutes, but the first pairing attempt failed. Turning the "off" switch in the back and turning it back on solved the problem. This detail is not in the instructions, so if in case the pairing fails for whatever reason and your WiFi network isn't detected, don't just turn it off via remote, but actually manually turn it on and off on the unit itself. Once connected, it has stayed consistently connected, streaming without issue, as long as the Internet itself is stable. I have been a fan of Sangean products for *years*—the build quality has always been excellent relative to the value, and for those who don't know, products made in Taiwan are on par with products made in Japan. The QC is high and there is great attention to detail to ensure each product is manufactured according to strict, precise specifications. So, you are really purchasing a highly crafted item that was subject to some of the highest industry standards. My only disappointment was that the cabinet no longer has a real wood veneer. My older Sangean models had a beautiful real walnut veneer, which is what I was expecting to see when I unboxed it for my friend; this appears to be a wooden cabinet (particleboard) with a printed faux-walnut pattern. I was surprised that other reviewers hadn't remarked on it (that I saw). Fortunately for my friend, she thought this was great, so if she cooks and splashes something on it, no biggie, just wipe it off... but I definitely thought it made the look of the stereo seem cheap, especially when you come up close to it and see the printed wood pattern. I would be happy to pay an extra $50-100 for a real walnut veneer like in models of old. This makes an excellent gift and is also a nice tabletop stereo for an office, kitchen, even a small sitting room or living room. It is packed full of modern features in a small stereo that is affordable, easy to use, and to most ears will sound great. I am annoyed that real walnut veneer is no longer being used, but this is aesthetic and just my personal preference. Hats off to Sangean, but do offer us that higher-end model with the walnut again, eh? ;)

I have had a few WIFI radios in the past and most are flaky when connecting to the online stations. But, this Sangean radio was flawless. I own an old Sangean SW radio and it is good quality so I expected the same here. It did not disappoint. Right out of the box, I plugged in and powered up. The three step on-screen setup found my wifi, and within a minute I browsed to a JAZZ station and streamed. The sound quality is clean for a small cabinet. Not lots of bass, but the built in EQ helped. Connecting to bluetooth took a bit of patience but once it found my phone, it worked well. The iPhone app connected quickly once I had wifi and bluetooth activated. For troubleshooting, which I did have to do briefly, I just went into settings and FACTORY RESET. So if for some reasons the internet stations don't populate, reset and it all comes back. As for the owner's manual, it's as brief as you would expect from todays offerings. Just enough to get you going. Overall, this is a good radio and one I don't hesitate to recommend.

I really wanted to like this radio. It's a nice design, good looking and the sound quality was very good. However, it would not hold a radio station. It would find the station but after 30 seconds it would lose the connection. It would then try to reacquire the station but would be unable to do it. The only way to get the station back was to re-input the station call letters. This would reacquire the station but again only for about 30 seconds. This happened with every station I tried. I sent the radio back. Too bad, as I said, it's a nice-looking radio and the sound quality (while it lasted) seemed good, but, if it can't hold a station, it's not of much use.
