Best Science Lab addition, great quality!
Perfect for my Elementary Science Lab lesson on fast land changes. My students love watching this volcano erupt. Great quality construction, comes with a tray for the overflow, very easy to clean with a removable center tube, large size. Just perfect for teachers, and kiddos at home that enjoy volcanoes.

One of my son’s favorite toys
My son has played with this ever since he got it. At first it was a prop for playing with dinos and now he’s really into experiments. So it’s been a good purchase. The quality is good, nothing has broken, the paint on the outside and the diagram on the inside have not been disturbed by all the baking soda and vinegar we’ve put in it. The tube is a good size, any larger and it would be a pain to clean out. Because it comes apart it’s also wary to clean the inside. My son loves it and I love that he’s played with it so much for so long and that it’s educational. I also like the size. I bought this one because all the others I found were too small. And it’s proven to be a good purchase.

If you're thinking of buying it, DO IT!!!
Amazing!! My 4 year old loves dinosaurs and volcanoes. We bought this to serve as a toy volcano but he has loved erupting it as well. It's educational and fun, highly recommend it. My son is 4, daughter is 12 and they've both enjoyed the eruptions. It does come with a small tube that you insert into the opening. You add your baking soda, and vinegar there for eruptions. Also comes with a plastic tray to put the volcano in to catch the "lava" so it doesn't get everywhere. It's a hard plastic so clean-up is as simple as running under warm water in the bathtub.

Cool volcano!
Cool looking volcano. Took a little trial and error to get the right 'lava' recipe. Would buy again

Fun little project!
This was so much fun to play with. I had a group of 8 kids ages 6 to 12 and WE all had much fun playing with it. We did a mixture of vinegar, soap, food coloring and baking soda for the eruption. We tried different ratios and temperatures and and also the mixture without the dish soap. We all had so much fun with volcano. It comes with and information and instructions booklet that is very useful. Also comes with a cleaning tool. It was easy to clean and put away for the next we use it!

Only the mess is spectacular
While this is a nice-looking volcano on the outside, we found it prohibitively messy to use. The volcano isn't sealed, and lava will actually go inside the walls of the volcano through tiny holes. The only way to flush the junk out of there is to try running water through the little holes. That said, you don't really get much volume of lava, because the loading chamber is quite small. Doesn't hold much baking soda, and leaves even less room for vinegar, so we ended up having to pour in a little vinegar, wait for the lava to flow out, and then add more vinegar to get the remaining baking soda at the bottom. Even after adjusting the ratios a few times, it made for a fairly mediocre exhibit. This could definitely be improved by sealing up the plastic and making the chamber bigger. It's a fairly big volcano overall and does look pretty cool, so those features are a plus. But for the price, you might be better off trying to make your own volcano if you have the time.

This is a great teaching tool for children....even if they don't have a project at school.
This is great. My third grade son enjoys it even after Volcano Day at his school. Many of the children were upset that the teacher advised that all of the volcanoes were to go into the dumpster after the eruptions. Needless to say, this $30 something item can be reused over and over again. I will admit that I had lost the instructions for the construction of the volcano. I purchased this instead. The teacher allowed it because I admitted that it was my fault that I had lost the instructions somehow in between my coursework at college...etc. My advice to parents is to purchase this volcano set. You can open it up and see exactly what is inside of a volcano. However, if the teacher's instructions specifically tell the student and parent to use paper mache sp? etc., then follow the instructions. IF YOUR CHILD IS EXCITED ABOUT VOLCANOES AND DOES NOT HAVE A PROJECT, THIS IS A PRICELESS, NON-MESSY ITEM YOU AND YOUR CHILD CAN ENJOY. All you need to buy is baking soda, light dish soap, white vinegar, and red food coloring.

Overpriced, small chamber for "lava", better as a classroom prop than anything else.
Dumb and overpriced unless you know nothing about volcanoes and want to use it as a prop (2 stars). Then it's worth about $10 #1- It came with no instructions. #2- Obviously you need baking soda and vinegar. You'd think for $40+ they could at least include some colored baking soda. Maybe they did, but I didn't get it. "Daddy why is lava white?" #3 the chamber for holding the "lava" is stupidly small. Maybe it will hold a 1/4C of liquid on top of the baking soda. It's anti-climactic even for the mildest of kids unless they were raised in a jungle. #4 it comes with a tube you have to put in there which I guessed only because you can see straight through to the bottom from the top without it (it would have leaked everywhere).
