I've seen this model advertised both ways.** A: No, it is neither. It is aluminum and plastic. Junk! I would recommend buying anything like this only in person where you can inspect the tool and read its specifications in print. It is critical to be able to inspect the cutting mechanism to be sure it is an all steel by-pass blade and anvil system that can be sharpened and maintained. The mechanism in this piece of junk has a steel blade that presses against an aluminum body which is supposed to act as the anvil. The steel blade digs into the soft aluminum which, after a few cuts creates a rough surface that binds and resists further cutting. That results in having to apply ever increasing force on the rope to attempt a cut and the cutting head flexes and breaks. The aluminum breaks and the plastic on the opposite side of the cutting head does not offer any structure, the thing is rendered useless after 6 cuts. Like I say, Junk! Amazon's description fails the accurate information test in every way. I must say though, the tool looks really good until you use it. Fiskars usually offers good, functional and durable tool which makes this piece of junk doubly disappointing. **Q: How wide of a branch does this saw cut?** A: I have cut 4" diameter limbs. **Q: Where can i buy a "hook end" replacement blade for my fiskars 16' pole saw?** A: I believe it is available from Fiskars as part of the head assembly, $14.99 + shippping. **Q: Has anyone used this item for more than 2 seasons? Seems that most of the complaints are in regards to either the blade or the pole bending or breakin** A: I have had my Fiskars Extendable Pole Saw and Pruner for about 5 or 6 years. It has held up very well. I don't know if the quality has gone down since I purchased mine but the one that I have is excellent and has had plenty of use. Mine has a separate handle that came with the trimmer which allows me to remove the 15" blade and attach it to the separate handle and utilize that blade without lugging the entire pole with me. I have been searching for a model with the same handle or a way to find just the handle separately but cannot locate it on Amazon or Youtube. The new models do not appear to include this separate blade handle. I would recommend this tool from my long time ownership and experience with it. Easy to use, more than sharp enough for my needs. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fiscars 7' - 16' Pole Saw with 1.25" Chain Drive Pruning Shear *by D***O on June 18, 2024* Excellent product. Excellent value. This is my second one. My only concern is the strength of the (telescoping) extension tubes. This Pole Saw cannot withstand any sudden impact with the ground, should you be trimming a larger diameter, higher, heavier branch that suddenly comes crashing to the ground. To be clear, this is a very well engineered tree pruning, tree trimming device. I absolutely have loved mine. You have to sort of "know when to say when" in not becoming too greedy in bringing down those extremely high, extremely large branches. Having said that, I've been able to repair my Fiscars Pole Saw three times now by simply (carefully) cutting the damaged telescoping tubes and (carefully) redrilling new fastener and height adjustment holes, as necessary depending on the needed repair. Also the chaindrive pruning hook tool is fantastic! It provides additional mechanical leverage for pulling down the pruning mechanism rope. Very, very effective tool. Just know that the higher you trim (saw) branches, the greater the odds you will damage this Fiscars Pole Saw. In many instances, however, it can actually be repaired ("repurposed") again, although you will likely have less overall height. Regardless, this is a very good value for the price. Lastly ONLY use this Pole Saw when standing on the ground. That's a basic safety thing that even this "greedy" Fiscars Pole Saw amateur user strongly advises. I am grateful for this product. It immediately opened up additional capability for me as a DIY customer. I know there are other (Commercial Grade) Pole Saw Pruning Tools. This Fiscars tool has more than met my needs. It adjusts well... adjusts easily, provided the tubing has not been bent. I have trimmed branches up to 25 feet high with this fully extended Fiscars Pole Saw. I've learned to have more reasonable expectations of the tool, while still appreciating its capabilities, particularly from an amateur / home owner perspective. The saw blade is magnificent.
