I purchased these cedar chips to use a top my houseplant pots. The natural cedar scent is a deterrent for many insects, including adult fungus gnats, which can frequent houseplant soil. Though the cedar chips don’t affect the larvae, it’s great for preventing the adults from reaching soil to lay more eggs. The scent is strong and smells wonderful. I may use this to make satchels for my drawers and linen closets to help keep the miller moths at bay, too. Cedar is a wonderful and natural insect repellent. Overall, I’m satisfied with my purchase. These are a tad pricey for the quantity received, but the product is great for my needs. Should I run out, I’ll definitely buy a few bags again. The cedar chip size is small, and light, which is perfect for covering soil in indoor planters. Please see attached photo for a size comparison to a US penny.

They showed up sealed well. The scent was strong and amazing. They weren't big chips, and they weren't saw dust. Just good cedar shavings. Exactly what I needed for my project.

I ordered the 3qt to use as mulch for my indoor plants. The shavings are much finer/smaller than I expected but it did fine as mulch. Probably more suited for rabbit bedding than plant mulch. The 3qt must be based on a different measurement system since the amount of product I got was more like 3 cups of shavings. I expected more product. I took off a star for that.

Great cedar shavings. Love the smell of cedar and this product is perfect for mulch of your container plants.
