You must have a prescription from your veterinarian to purchase this food. My 17 1/2 yr old cat started having issues that the vet determined would be managed by putting him on the kidney focused food. My cat took a day to adjust to. Now he doesn't even sniff the regular cat food fir my other cats. He has a regular appetite & put on weight. His hair is back to normal. He has more energy. Great food for a cat with this special kidney diet.

My cat eats it. That tells you everything!

A few months ago I noticed my 18 year old cat seemed a little disoriented and watched him. He looked dizzy then started to howl. I scoop him up and rush him to the animal ER. Turns out he has high blood pressure and advanced kidney disease. Tests reveal his kidneys were only working at 10%. He was in fatal condition. I was given a prescription for the blood pressure, informed about signs he was suffering(and needed to be euthanized) and what to do with his body should he "pass". I tried several brands of the wet food (needed to help him stay hydrated) but he wouldn't eat anything but this. It's only been 2 months and he is doing better, his kidney function is now at 25% which is survivable, and it all attributed to this(getting his bp down just keeps his kidneys from getting worse). This definitely improved his kidney function.

Picky cat loves it!

Kitty doesn't like this. Is it really that hard to make a palatable cat food for kidney cats? Even the feral cats that stop by occasionally turn their little kitty noses up at this "stuff"!

I have elderly cats and they needed to go on the special diet for Kidney problems. They are very fussy eaters and has slowly gotten used to the taste. I gradually introduced them to this product by mixing original food with this product 60 - 40 and now they are at 80 % NF Kidney food and 20% of the original. They seem to be doing well on this.

My 14 year old cat has just been diagnosed with kidney disease. This food was recommended by the vet. My fear was that my cat would not eat it because she's a very picky eater. Thankfully, she loves this food. Small size kibble that also smells good. I am hopeful that it will keep my cat's kidneys functioning for more years; if so, it is worth every penny. I will be lost without her.

Like many cats, ours are finicky eaters. They've been eating Purina's "Indoor" kibble for years, but when both developed kidney disease, we had to search for a more appropriate option. The one kibble variety they liked, was too large for one cat to eat (because of dental issues). We introduced the Pro Plan by gradually mixing it in with their old kibble. They weren't happy with the change, but seem to be getting used to it.
