We got this as a gift for our son's girlfriend, who was moaning about some unwanted hair. We kept telling her it was nothing to worry about, but she's only young, and issues can become much bigger than they really are. She has reported back on it and is clearly very impressed. She says it's super simple to use, and unlike other methods she's tried, it wasn't particularly uncomfortable. She has been very impressed with the result and wishes she'd known about this earlier. She also tells us that it works on different parts of the body, although we didn't like to pry, as that would be a little bit too much information. It is a gift that has been very well received. Although it might be a little different from the kind of thing we normally get our son's girlfriend, it's good to know that it turned out to be something that she found useful and worthwhile.

This is a really nicely packaged item - first impressions are very positive as its been boxed very well, a bit like an iphone, with little cardboard packaging squares holding all the various elements of the kit - well designed and thought out. There are two sets of instructions (one more detailed and a quick start guide), a razor (nice touch as the skin has to be hair free to treat), drawstring carry bag, power leads and the unit obviously and a set of goggles (so helpful as I had a previous IPL machine that didn't include these and it made me nervous using it). The instructions are well written and easy to understand and the quick start guide covers it all so if you are impatient like me (!) its a good, comprehensive but speedy read. I have a very low painthreshold so I'm always a bit nervous trying out a new beauty treatment that has the possiblity of hurting me - but I'm happy to report that on my legs at least there is absolutely no pain involved at all. Literally none. The only thing I find tricky is leaning over the unit to make sure that the light is on to ensure a good contact between my skin and the machine - but that's just technique and I'm sure I'll get more practiced as I go forward. They have also included a handy calendar to complete after treatments so you can see when you've last treated as there are guidelines for week 1,2 etc. to ensure a professional finish. I'm not particularly hairy at all so I'll report back after a few weeks to see how progress is going. It is a significant investment but so much cheaper than salon IPL and the fact it can be used all over the body (per instructions) means that its good value and the sessions can be done at my convenience.

Ulike Laser Hair Removal, Air 10 IPL Hair Removal for Women and Men. (At Home) I took it out, took some pics plus a short clip and had a little go, although as a bloke I didn't know what the hell I was doing. "Glasses... What glasses". Yes, lasering my eyeballs out before reading anything of course. The unit was solid and quite heavy as expected with quality parts and even top quality wrappings. Although it was expected at the price point. Oh and no pain whatsoever even with 4 pulses. (To Daughters) Anyhow I then dropped it off at my daughters today whilst she was at work so she could try it out for review. Later she messaged back and had only good things to say about the product's build, materials and usage. On her first use, she tested it on her leg and said there was no pain at all (Maybe another sensitive part of the body it's different). There's also a fan that whirs and is quite noisy, maybe this is the cooling bit? It's plugged in, but still manoeuvrable and easy to use with a on/off, setting and light treatment button. It uses dual lights which doubles the area and speeds up treatment which is a bonus too. You do have to shave first though, and wear the provided glasses (Very Important) This could easily be used in a salon she said. (Back Home) It can even adjust its settings automatically to your skin tone, although best suited for lighter skinned people with dark hair. Why this is, I personally don't have a clue, but that's what the description states on the product. Also do not use on tattooed, tanned or scarred skin or if you're pregnant, and please read the manual fully before using. You do have to persevere with treatment every 2 days for the first 2 weeks to see visible results, although this may differ from person to person and what body part is being treated. So this isn't an exact science I suppose. I can only surmise it damages the hair follicle to kill it? Conclusion: Well made with good technology and promises noticeable effect in 2 weeks, but subjective at best. Quite a chunk of cash though for the product at 340 quid at time of order, but to be honest, as a bloke I have no clue how much you ladies pay for beauty products, so It may be cheap for all I know, and a massive cost saving for your own DIY treatments? If it works and saves you money, then it's a recommended from me.

I've tried quite a few of at-home IPL devices over the years and this is by far the best, prior to first using it I didn't realise it had the ice cooling function and it felt cold on the skin, almost like applying an ice cube so it was surprising at first but that made using it completely painless, can't compare it to any other device I've used in the past. It has various settings you can choose from based on your hair and sensitivity by clicking the power button once the device is turned on, what I like is that you can adjust the strength yourself and it doesn't automatically select it for you based on skin tone. I already noticed a reduction in the speed of hair growth after first use and personally I use it once a week, you shouldn't use it on the same day you shave to reduce the risk of irritation, I usually shave the day before using this. Once you have used it enough times to see that the hair is no longer growing it's still advised to use it at least once a month or the hair can slowly start growing again. The only thing I don't like about it is this particular pink colour, it reminds me of some old hairdryer from the 50-60s and the device itself is quite bulky, I find ones that have a handle much easier to use but the ice cooling and other functions would still make me chose this Ulike device over the others I've tried, the packaging is also very nice and feels luxe.

I have been wanting to try an at home IPL for a few years, as friends have told me how good they are but was always a little unsure so when the opportunity came up to try this one from Ulike I thought I would give it a go! It comes very nicely packaged and didn't realise that it came with a razor, pouch bag and protective eyewear, the glasses also fold down for even easier storage. The instructions were very good and descriptive and put any of my concerns or worries at ease, they were very easy to understand as the device on;y has 3 buttons, one button when long pressed turns the device on/off, the same button short press scrolls through the various modes, Normal, High and Fast then, the other button on the side is to use the SNR mode which is the highest intensity, the last button is on the main body of the device and when the device is on and this button is pressed activates the pulse light but will only work if the device is correctly in position, there is a LED gauge bar that lights up white to confirm that the device is correctly positioned and has suitable contact, if its white then when you press the big button then the light will pulse, if red then pressing the button will do nothing until you have the correct position and contact. The great thing about this device is that I found it to be pain free although I can feel a slight tingle on the SNR mode but this is the highest intensity and even then I wouldn't describe it as painful, what helps it to be pain free is the ice cooling and this kicks in as soon as the device is turned on and it does feel ice cold to the skin so is very pleasant to use. I have been using it every other day for around 3 weeks now, after I have shaved as it works best on shaved hair as it can penetrate the hair follicles better. I have been using it for armpit hair and the bikini zone and I can already see and feel a difference, particularly my armpits, the regrowth is a bit slower and the hair feels a bit softer, the bikini area still seems the same thickness as before but I would say the regrowth is slightly reduced now too. I have found it extremely easy to use and particularly like how you can use it manually where you press the button every time or you can long press the button and it will automatically flash if you make sufficient contact and position. I personally think that this is a great IPL machine to use if you have never used one before and the instructions are simple and informative and the machine is so easy to operate and are not bombarded with lots of different buttons and settings.
