Review: So, you've taken the plunge and bought a pH monitor, thinking you're all set to embark on your hydroponic journey. But then it hits you—monitoring is only half the battle. Fear not, fellow green thumbs and budding botanists, for I have found the yin to your pH monitor's yang: General Hydroponics pH Down. This product is, in a nutshell, a gardener's best friend. It's like having a magic elixir at your fingertips, ready to correct any alkaline audacity your water dares to exhibit. With just a few drops, you can bring your solution from the precarious heights of pH imbalance down to the serene valleys of perfect acidity. And why is this important, you ask? Because your plants are picky eaters, and pH Down ensures they get the nutrients they crave in a form they can absorb. Now, let's talk about ease of use. General Hydroponics has somehow managed to bottle simplicity itself. A little goes a long way, and with the detailed instructions provided, you'll feel like a pH wizard in no time. But remember, with great power comes great responsibility. Always monitor your pH levels to avoid turning your hydroponic setup into an acidic wasteland.Durability isn't usually a word associated with liquid products, but in this case, it's about the lasting impact pH Down has on your system. Consistent use helps maintain an optimal environment for your plants, contributing to their health and vitality over time. This isn't just a quick fix; it's a long-term solution for sustainable growth. In essence, General Hydroponics pH Down is the silent guardian of your hydroponic system. It works flawlessly with your new pH monitor, ensuring that your plants thrive in an environment tailored to their needs. If you've invested in monitoring your system's pH, investing in pH Down is a no-brainer. It's like buying a shield to accompany your sword, preparing you fully for the battle against pH imbalance. I wouldn't dream of running my hydroponic system without it.
Review: First off, what ph meter are you using? I have 3 different ones from desertcart, calibrated all in the same solutions, at 25 C, all give me different values. They’re useless. If you want to be more sure, you should also have test strips or test fluid. As for all the reviewers saying this doesn’t work, that they had to use a whole bottle or whatever to get to the ph value they were after.. I question your water source. I recently put in an RO system to use for my plants. On my old hard water (about 240ppm) it would take about 8.5ml of ph down to get my 4 gallon jug of just water (for flush) down to 6.0 from about 7.5. Now with RO water measuring 002ppm before adjust, I started on another 4 gallon jug with 3 ml, and it brought me down to 3.5. So I tried a gallon jug, I dipped my finger in the down, then into the jug. I don’t know how to add any less that that? Well, it took my 7.1 down to 4.2. INSANE. This stuff definitely works, too well. I’m new to RO, so I haven’t tried with nutes yet, but I’m hoping once I have a higher ppm in my water from the nutes that it will be less sensitive to adjust the ph. If you have water under 010 ppm and it takes more than a few drops to get your value, you should try another method of testing your ph, because your meter might be lying to you. Some other things to consider is how are you adding your down? Is the tool clean? Have you tried balancing just water? Because maybe it has something to do with the combo of nutes you’re using, or the ppm you end up at with your nutes added. See, this is the problem with online reviews. This didn’t work for someone because they unknowingly were using it wrong, then they leave a trash review. I also have the root farm ph down, and the standard hydroponics down, and it seems to work exactly the same, just as powerful. I haven’t tried the Indo brand yet, but I’m willing to bet it works just as good. So to summarize my opinion, if this isn’t adjusting your levels with just a few drops, I think you have other problems, and that this stuff works great. And to be clear, I bought this myself, I have never had any products shipped to me in exchange for a review. I am a very happy customer of all General Hydroponics products, I run their 10 part nute system in my soil grows, and notice a benefit over using the Indo nutes I started with a couple of years ago. Keep your patients, you’ll get it all figured out soon. There are a lot of areas to master in growing Mary, I’m FAR from it. Ph is an important one, some strains are more forgiving than others, but if you’re too far out your plant might (probably will) stop taking in nutes, and that’s no good.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: What is the amount per gallon mixing ratio?**
A: I use up to 3-4ml per gallon sometimes, depending on my nutrients, water and stage of plant growth. It will vary depending on what you're growing and where your particular plant's needs fall on the nutrient/ph charts. For hydroponics/coir it is recommended by manufacturer to range between 5.5 and 6.5.

**Q: can you list ingredients with %. Thank you!**
A: exact amounts are a trade secret however the MSDS on this states:Phosphoric acid 10 - 30%Ammonium dihydrogenorthophosphate 5 - 10%Citric acid 5 - 10%in comparison the dyna-gro ph down has:Phosphoric Acid H3PO4 33%Nitric Acid HNO3 11.5%That being said there are benefits to some of these ingredients. N-NitrogenP-PhosphorusK-PotassiumPhosphoric acid provides: PAmmonium dihydrogenorthophosphate provides: N and PCitric acid: other than lowering ph, does nothing useful. made from oxygen and hydrogen not in any usable form as far as I can find.Nitric Acid provides: NOverall either product seems to provide similar benefits.Dyna-gro is half the cost.

**Q: ingredients? Concentration?**
A: It’s not organic if that’s what you mean ingredients. I haven’t used this in a long time. I want to say I’d use like 20ml for 5 gallons. I switched to another branf

**Q: Is this safe for aquaponics systems?**
A: I would think so. I use it to lower the pH of the water I use to water my plants sometimes, both inside and out.
