Having read the reviews on line I was keen to try out the Mink Oil and thus far I have not been disappointed. It has restored a pair of beloved Loake boots back to their original condition and now I am about to embark on using it on some leather chairs. The oil appears odourless and was soon absorbed by the dry leather to give the boots a deep and pleasing shine that is evidently not just a surface coating. The leather feels softer. Very pleased so far.

I have tried to ‘break in’ these fabulous cherry red doc martens every day for 3 weeks.......and the going has been tough, but after applying this mink oil.......24 hours later and they are different boots they are ‘broken’ soft and 100% wearable.

This is expensive stuff but excellent. No better waterproofing leather treatement on the market. Well worth it. QUick absorbing. Definately recommend this

I have some leather work boots I've been using the past few years and this oil deffinetly worked on them. I had never used a product like this before. All I did was wipe down the boots, and then use a cloth to rub in the oil (I was quite generous when applying). Left them to dry on their own and they were ready. Took them on a trip to Lake Como where it rained on us and I had to walk for at least an hour in pouring rain. Feet kept perfectly dry. It rained on us a few more times but the boots never lost their water proofing. Recomend 100%.

It turned out be exactly the way described . This makes the leather shoe look new except the shine is less , but that can be done using a shoe polish brush .

To open the bottle for the first time, you have to remove the cap and there is a plastic plug that you have to remove. It was a bit of a pain to remove it, but that's fine as it keeps the oil from leaking during transport. The consistency of the mink oil is like a thin gel. I used it on some of my Timberland Hiking boots that were brown, and it made them darker but I wanted them darker and had a feeling that would happen since I'm applying oil to them. If you don't want to darken your shoes or boots, definitely test a bit in a small area first, wait a day and then see the results, otherwise you may have darkened your shoes when you did not want to! Applying it is easy with a paper towel, but probably a sponge would do better. As for the waterproofing and stain resistance, in Toronto there is always tons of salt everywhere during the winter and a bit of snow. It definitely makes salt easy to clean off and waterproofing seems to work fine. A great product overall as long as you test on your boots first to see if it darkens it, and it definitely resists water and salt!
