I rarely give books five stars. The reason I'm always reluctant is because I've read some really good books--books that have made me look at the world in a whole new way. This is one of those books. If you're looking for action, there is action--and it's not ridiculous, it's realistic. If you like mystery, this book has it. If you're about character development, you will grow to love the characters. What motivates us? How do bad people justify their actions? They're not bad people. We all lie to ourselves.I can't just keep heaping praise, though. I do have a single gripe--the editing needs work. I encountered numerous instances of errors in this publication. I can't imagine anyone editing this book could have truly tried actually reading it. That said, I don't want to give the impression that the text was riddled with errors. But some items were overlooked that shouldn't have been.But, despite that minor criticism, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I can't imagine it needs a sequel, but I truly want to know what happens next with the characters in this story. I want to know how their lives turn out. Now that's a good book. ### ⭐⭐ Fragmented and Uninteresting *by F***R on Reviewed in the United States on August 13, 2018* The setting of Adrift is a tour-bus like spaceship, intended to ferry tourists about so they can look at a space station, or have views of the Horsehead nebula. Kind of an interesting setup but then disaster strikes, in the form of a devastating attack on the space station and damage to the tour-ship, and the book just devolves into an incomprehensible mess. There are 5 or so POV characters and each ~8 page chapter features a different POV. Like other reviewers I found my self skipping forward page after page to find a thread of action I understood. At about 2/3rds through I gave up. ### ⭐ Boring is too nice a description. *by D***G on Reviewed in the United States on November 19, 2018* This book took a long time to go nowhere. Extremely boring with only a couple of chapters worth reading. Too much of nothing going on for long periods of time. With very rare exceptions the characters could have been killed off very early and not effected the story. The ending leaves you wondering what happened between the final two chapters. The story began with an interesting premise and had great promise but it failed to deliver. Further C. Clarke had a much better story with "Moondust" as did Jack McDevitt with "Moonfall" and James White with "Lifeboat".
