Very portable on the go chess board. Quality made and feels rigid. The peices are nicely built. This chess board will surely build a conversation. And it's super cute!

Bought this two years ago and my son treasures it. It’s worth the extra cost. It’s lovely.

The 7x7 is a great little kit, the magnets aren’t the strongest but the board and pieces are so small it’s not that surprising. Mine doesn’t have a clasp to hold it together (unlike the pic on the box) it has 2 magnets which are strong enough. I keep in the box anyway as it doesn’t add any bulk and keeps it protected from falling open/scratches etc. It is hand made so pieces are all slightly different, but the board sits nice and flat and the padding holding the pieces in is good. Overall a great little set, I’ve knocked one star off as it’s not perfect - one pawn is massive compared to the others, some of the chequering on the board is “interesting” but for the price and what it’s going to be used for (chucking in my backpack while out and about) then it’s all good.

We play chess each morning over our coffee, so having a nice board that is the just right size, attractive and well made has been a bit of a quest. This is the first one that really ticks all the boxes! It's a beautifully made wooden board with simple wooden pieces that are also magnetic. It even has the extra queens, which I love! Most the travel boards we've tried previously were too small to feel like you're playing a proper game, too flimsy, the pieces easily fell off if the board was moved at all and frankly had no aesthetic pleasure to them. I realise I'm getting a touch giddy about a chess board, but it is how I start day every morning and this little chess board is bringing me joy.

Item arrived onetime and well packaged. Well made. Board folds in two after use and you store the pieces in pre defined spaces inside so shouldn't loose any. Board is slightly magnetic so pieces don't fall off during use. Good to use when travelling. Would definitely recommend if you like board games and have children / grandchildren to keep amused

We bought this to take on our travels and had a lot of fun using it. The board and magnetic pieces are nicely made for the price and look great. Its size is perfect - the 7" folding board contains the pieces and is small enough to carry in one hand or slip in a pocket, but large and heavy enough to feel better than a toy. Two spare queens are included too, which is handy.

A good small chess set. Would be good for a travel set. I use it alongside chess books to set up the positions. Decent quality for the price. Magnets hold the pieces in place without being too strong, I held the board upside down and gently shook, some movement but none fell.

This is an excellent chess set and very nice to play with. Decent sized pieces and nice board. Piece in lays to replace and keep pieces in good condition.

A nice quality chess set. Bought it for our 9 year old grandson who spent a lot of time playing with it over the Christmas holidays. Highly recommend this product

Magnetic chess where the whole purpose of magnetism has failed. Was excited to open the box.. but it’s completely useless. The pieces don’t stick to the board... 😇... true.. it just doest not stick. I thought... “ok, i can still use it as normal chess..” Ha ha ha... life is full of fun... the 🧲 now work is attracting or pushing other pieces. Unplayable... no... I was not even able to put all the pieces together. Have to return the same day. Search somewhere else...🕵️‍♂️🕵️‍♂️🕵️‍♂️🔦🔦🔦

I was a little nervous about ordering this set, as Amazon said it was a frequently returned item. I don't know what the reason for that could be, but the set I received is flawless. It is solid wood throughout, and the playing surface is made up of individual squares of wood veneer (some boards I have seen just have a single piece of wood with dyed or painted squares). Mine is the 7x7 model, and is kept closed by magnets rather than a metal latch. I think this is better, since it gives a cleaner look, and the magnets are plenty strong enough to keep it closed. The overall quality of workmanship is excellent, with smooth transitions between the two halves of the board in both open and closed positions. The chessmen themselves are very nicely made considering their small size. They are satisfyingly proportioned and easy to tell apart from each other. The magnets felt a little weak at first, but they proved to be strong enough to hold even the heavier pieces in place, even when the board was held sideways or inverted. Stronger magnets may actually be a bad thing, because it might cause the pieces to be attracted to one another and cause problems. All in all, I don't have a single bad thing to say about this set. It's an absolute bargain for the price, and I'm thinking of buying some of the other sizes. It would make an excellent gift.

Acquistata come regalo per un appassionato. Molto gradita. I magneti rendono facile muoverla senza temere di far ribaltare i pezzi, le rifiniture sono molto belle, anche se non particolarmente curate. Unica pecca, che non dipende però dal produttore, è arrivata con un angolo ammaccato. Il destinatario del regalo ha insistito per tenerla, altrimenti l'avrei rispedita per farla sostituire. Purtroppo non ho avuto modo di verificare senza dover aprire la scatola, prima di fargliela avere.
