Q: Is nougat Asian??? I thought it was Mediterranean?

Nougat is actually a type of candy that is made with a whipped egg white base joined with a sugar source and any other inclusions. Our taffy candies are inspired by Asian-style nougat. The major difference is that Mediterranean nougat is made with honey whereas Asian nougat is made with maltose rice syrup, which is a much more dense and less sweet natural sweetener than honey. The maltose gives Asian nougat its high chewiness and more mild sweet flavor and, traditionally, Asian recipes have always paired the nougat recipe with dairy for a creamy taste profile. It is for this difference in taste experience that we liken our candies more to taffy than nougat.

Q: Are there artificial colors in them?

No artificial colors! Our Original Creme and Creamy Coconut flavors are naturally white (no color added), Chocolate Milk is dark brown due to the real cocoa powder, Strawberries and Cream is colored by beet powder for a light, natural pink, and Caffeinated Coffee is colored by a combination of real coffee and caramel color.
