Does the trick, but here's what they don't tell you...  You absolutely must fasten this to your pet's already existing collar.  There are three inner loops that you thread the collar through.  Fasten the doughnut to your pet using the collar, and "fine tune" the fit with the large velcro strap.  If you don't use a collar, your animal will easily pull it off.  Before I used the collar method, my cat figured out how to slide it off in about 30 seconds.

I like the concept of this collar-better than those plastic cones the vet hands out but this one had to be returned since it was too small-not getting another one since I am hoping the cone can come off my cat who was beat up pretty badly by another cat very soon.Definitely worth trying since if it did fit I think it would be much more comfortable for her to sleep in and walk around in

This is a very well made item.  I also have the small size and decided on this one because the small was a bit large for my cat.  To make a long story short had to go back to the small size, because he was still able to lick his paw are wearing the extra small one.  After reading other reviews, we just took the inter tube lining out and replaced it with the type of stuffing you would use to make a stuffed animal.  It wears well and my cat wore it comfortably.  Its much better than the cones.  I would highly recommend this product
