I am impressed
I am not a scientist but do have a couple of mixed reef tanks where I have battled algae and never really knew what type of algae it was. This microscope allowed me to connect it to my laptop. NOTE: I did have to look for the driver for the app online and paste it into the directory where the app runs for the camera app to work on my laptop. Once I did that though it worked like a champ. I tested it on the slides initially and my kids really liked going through them. Then I turned my attention to some salt water that I had sitting for a few days just to see if there was anything in there. Sure enough there was and I was able to show my kids microscopic organisms swimming around a drop of water from copepods to other organisms I could not identify. The case is very well organized and will keep your unit safe when put away. I also like that I can used the microscope with just batteries for the lights so it is portable. I really like that I can take pics and record what I find so I can track any new pests i find in my tank or even algae types. I should of had one of these sooner. I think for what you get with this unit, it is worth the price. I would recommend practicing with the slides until you get used to adjusting the settings, especially before trying to look at a liquid, to reduce risk of getting lens wet. I think this is useful for an adult and even a school aged child that is learning science or just wants to learn about science. I think it is a good value for the price and is constructed very well.

Review for $90 microscope
For the price this is a good microscope. Before I get into what makes it good, I will say my main disappointment is lack of getting what was advertised, which lists it as a trinocular microscope, and even the manual talks about it being a binocular microscope, when it is a monocular microscope. What's good Can be used as both a transmittance for thin materials that light can pass through, or transmittance for opaque items. My kid really enjoyed being able to look at penny this way and even under low magnification it showed a lot of detail. Plugs in and has a built in battery. Found this out when I unplugged it and accidentally clicked the switch when putting away and saw the light come on. Has multiple ocular lenses. I've never seen this before, usually just has the rotating objective lenses. Comes with a 2.5x, 10x, and 25x ocular, which is nice for the reflected images since you shouldn't be using more than the lowest magnification objective lens. Coarse adjustment is tight to prevent accidental movements Great case with nice starter set of pre-mounted slides. Cons, beyond not being what was advertised Stage feels really cheap. While I don't expect a good one at this price point it was hard to adjust slides with this, and felt like it might be slightly misaligned with the light source. Some usage feels a bit janky, but that could be because I'm used to using more expensive microscopes for work. Overall, for $90 this feels like a good microscope to get started with, even with the incorrect description.

It was impossible to focus a sample. Camera does not work with mac
This microscope is kinda hard to use. The camera software is out of date and do not work with Mac. First impression is that you are not getting your money's worth.

La placa para muestras es muy pequeña y debería tener una opción para poner otras más grande y la luz no es muy potente también la camara no es de buena calidad.

Good Scope
I was skeptical for the price. This is a very nice microscope! I have a more expensive one. This microscope rivals it very closely if not better for some features. The camera and software are great. More than I expected. I could see things maybe 100th the size of a blood cell easily. I need to learn what they are. They are smaller than a blood platelet. They move around. I have yet to explore up to 5000x with this microscope. I don't think I'll be disappointed. I wasn't really expecting it to be as good as it is! I'm very pleased.

Pretty good piece of equipment
Bought mine for our lab at work. I work at a wastewater facility. So far we've taken videos and pics of the critters that inhabit the wastewater. Stalked ciliates, tardegrades, rotifers. Let's us know how well we are doing. The local college comes through as part of a tour for their biology course. We now can show them the biology. Thank you and love it.
