Works well
You need this with the Pixy Cam camera to do it's thing, makes it easier. It does need to be secured well because the cable can limit its movement or push itself to fall over. It's inexpensive and easy to assemble. I think this did come with a Plastic and Metal Gear Servo along with the little pieces to function correctly. Good buy. Get the Pixy Cam2 with this. It's worth it. Edit: This did not come with a Metal Gear Servo only 2 plastic ones. That would be a other one I bought... sorry about that.

perfect for my build
I wished I had bought this with the camera in the beginning as the initial one was a nightmare! this was a quick 15 minute assembly and I am finally able to work on my project. love it.

Dealing with panning vibration - Solved
Product is solid, complete with extra screws. Easy to follow assembly directions at their online wiki site. But there's too much vibration when panning (left and right). Followed the troubleshooting steps but yet to figure out the cause. Could be servo issues. Something to think about or research before buying. It's expensive for my budget. Update: I followed the wiki documentation and it turned out the cable that came with the Pixy was the problem. I replaced it with the one with better shielding. I used the one from my PS4 and the servo vibration went away. I hope this will help others.

It'll be a miracle if you get this assembled
Enormous waste of money. The acrylic literally crumbled in my hands while assembling. I can't imagine what it would do once powered on, but I'm sure it would never align properly.

great kit and instructions, easy to follow
This was a very easy kit to get up and running with the Pixycam2 along with the Pan-Tilt. The instructions were easy to follow along and only change on tools was using finger nail clippers as opposed to wire cutters. Some of the screws are small but with patience I was still able to put together. Some questions on the wire connectors placement but looking carefully at followup pictures helped. Software installation was straight forward and everything just works.

OK design, but could be better.
General idea was good, but the base split whilst trying to insert servo motor lip into the grove. In addition, when inserting screws the base split once again. There should be more tolerance and a better design to reduce these problems.

Works with my PC, but not my RPi
I never found the magic post that would tell me the right way to run this tracking camera with my Raspberry Pi. I plugged it into my Windows 7 PC and had it running in a few minutes. It's fun to play with for a while, but I'm not sure if it has a practical application. The camera is very low resolution. Online assembly instructions are very good. Some pieces are tiny and very easy to misplace. It's a good way to learn about using servos, and cameras.

Easy to assemble & works immediately.
The pan tilt servo module is easy to put together & the demos with the pixy cam work immediately with no coding - just download pixymon, plug into the USB port of your PC and start playing with it. A nice and quick way to add object detection based on color or line tracking to a project - like the little zumo bot.
