## Description

As a leading OE supplier to the automotive industry, Delphi holds more than 30 OE-proprietary innovations and 150 patents in fuel module and pump design. As a result, our fuel pumps restore fast-pressure performance and system integrity to provide better pumping through less energy. Delphi fuel pumps feature internal springs for increased durability and enhanced stability, while a lower amperage draw places less load on a vehicle’s electrical system. Our fuel pumps include a large volume reservoir to better handle low-fuel situations and vehicle cornering, as well as fuel-level, gold-filled sensors for improved debris and wear resistance. Other benefits of our fuel pumps include consistent pump flow, an enhanced filtration system for longer pump life and an OE-service body harness and connector for superior performance, durability and ease of installation.

Review: Quality part!!! - The module itself was easy to install but getting to it....well that's a whole different story... (PITA!!!!). Anyway, the module wiring exactly matched my factory harness on my 2000 Sierra 4x4 so it was as simple as cutting the existing connector off and splicing the provided connector onto my harness. All the necessary hardware to make this splice is provided with this module. If your wiring does not match the new connector, the instruction manual that comes with the module illustrates how to properly connect the new connector. I also purchased a new lock ring ACDelco TR14 Ring Fuel Sendor and new fuel line retainer clips Dorman 800-016 Fuel Line Retaining Clip Assortment for GM/Chrysler because my truck is 12 years old and I figured it would be easier to replace everything with all new parts. If you decide to order the fuel line retaining clips, make sure you get the one from the link I added because you will need BOTH (3/8" and 5/16") sizes. I also went ahead and purchased a new fuel filter ACDelco GF652 Fuel Filter as well so I could have all new parts from the pump to the filter. OK, I decided to remove the bed of my truck instead of dropping the tank (again, 12 year old plastic parts and Murphy's Law). Let me warn you...this is still a PITA regardless of whether dropping the tank OR removing the bed. I ended up purchasing a 1-ton engine hoist and a load leveler in order to remove the bed. If you have 3 good buddies to help you lift off the bed, then you may not need to spend any extra money (except for beverages for your buddies of course). Even though I spent the extra money it was WAY LESS than what the dealer wanted for this job (but I can see now why they charge so much). As usual desertcart came through and everything arrived faster than I expected. This module is great and worked like a champ. The fuel gauge worked immediately and the truck cranked right up and idled like it was new again. Thanks again to desertcart for having quality parts and fast shipping!
Review: OEM and improved! - So far so good ... improved over the original (1999 Silverado) part according to Delphi. The fuel sender seems to be of far better construction, and it is NICE to have a fully working fuel gauge again! Got 147,000 on the original, and I always let my tank run almost dry (I don't believe the people who say never to go under a quarter tank ... my pumps last as long as most everyone else, and I generally try to go as far as I can before empty). Had I known it was so easy to change, I'd have done it long ago due to the fuel gauge problem. I only had a quarter tank of gas, so I just dropped the tank. Took my time, did it myself in three hours. I would recommend anyone with a similar truck or SUV with over 130,000 miles and the original pump ... just drive it until it's almost empty of gas and change the thing. That way you'll never get stuck. These seem to give little to no warning that they are going bad, and you DON'T want it to go bad on a trip (or with a full tank if you don't want to remove or tilt the bed). You do need to change the connector to the pump (not the sensor) the first time you change this. I soldered mine. Easy.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: whats the difference between fuel pump Delphi FG 0053 and Delphi FG 0407, both says are the correct for my 2000 gmc sierra sle 1500,vin T,**
A: not sure.the FG0053 pump has 2 plug ins. one for fuel pump and sender. the other for fuel tank pressure sensor. there might be a differance if your truck is a flex fuel model.

**Q: what's the psi of this pump**
A: To my knowledge this fuel pump has to put 60 psi for vechicle to start. And after running 55-65 psi

**Q: I noticed that it does not come with a fuel sock do I need this for a 2000 Chevy Silverado 5.3**
A: Not sure on a 2000 but my 03 did not need one. I believe that should be the case for yours as well.

**Q: I just bought this pump for my 2002 Silverado 4.3L V6. the supplied Delphi Gasket seems too big--won't install right. Should I use old gasket? Thx**
A: I ended up using the old gasket because the new one did not fit correctly on my 2000 Chevy Silverado 15000 LT. 5.3 V8. I would say use it if you don't have any other alternative but inspect it first and make sure there is no wear and tear, If there is then I'd recommend getting someone to drive you to your auto store and picking up something more suitable.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Pumps works great. Seal was too thick.
*by C***G on January 15, 2014*

I have a 1999 Chevy Silverado 1500 4WD 5.3L. The fuel pump went out last week and our mechanic wanted $750 to replace it (+ tax). So, I decided to try it myself (~$160) based upon a YouTube video that showed how to "relatively easily" tilt up the truck bed (sideways) so that I didn't have to lower the gas tank (a real problem if you don't have a lift and/or a couple people). You simply take out 4 of the truck bed bolts (tank/pump side - driver's side) and unscrew the other four bolts (non-tank side - passenger side) 1/2 out, take off the tailgate (for less weight) and tip up and support the bed in a few places. A very good trick... Anyway, everything went great (including cutting off the old electrical connector and crimping on the new electrical connector) until I tried to put/press the mounting plate back on to the top of the gas tank using the new pump's circular rubber gasket. It just wouldn't close/seat, even with hammering (tapping) the plate to get it to turn/set with a blunt punch. After 1/2 hour of trying, I finally gave up and put the older rubber gasket (still in good shape) on the new pump. It sealed very well and went on after a few directed taps/hits. Great. The truck started up right away and definitely has more power than before... It's seems to be a great pump for this first week of use. As a thought, I might have been able to use the new seal if I could have put "a lot" of pressure on the top of the gas tank. That is not possible when you're under the tilted-up truck bed. So, that is maybe the downside of the tilted-up truck bed method. But, the pump seems to be working great and the old seal worked. I hope this tip helps you!!!
