how is this applied and how long is it left on before shampooing out?

After letting the tube sit in a hot cup of water to heat it up, You twist off a plastic piece to open the tip of the applicator and squeeze on hair AFTER you wash your hair- so it’s applied to your. Clean wet hair. You leave on for 1 minute and then rinse and follow with conditioner. It’s really good stuff ! They don’t make products like this anymore. It’s been around forever and still one of the best products out there! I’ve been using since I was a little girl and now I’m my 30s.

when i apply the oil my hair seems to lather up as if there was soap in the oil, is this normal? does this happen to anyone else?

Yes this is actually good. It's distributing the product evenly and working with soft water does that too. It's possible to get a Sqeak like super clean hair does. That means you rinsed well. The next day your hair is so shiny. Great product. 

this product has Edta. edta kills the cells. i don't know if it is healthy for my hair. and has many chemicals , any long term honest feedback please?

Hair is already dead cells. It exhibits zero biochemical activity. The only living part of hair is found in the follicle, which lies below the skin.
