These air-powered sanders deliver professional performance and a swirl-free finish in high-production industrial environments that require dust extraction. The 3M clean sand system eliminates dust from the workpiece and surrounding space to improve sanding performance. The sander uses the inlet air to create its own venturi vacuum that extracts dust and expels it through a wide collection port into the included clean sanding filter bag. Elite series palm sanders are loaded with upgraded features ed at durability, performance, and operator comfort. Improved wrist support increases comfort and leverage. A safer thumb-operated speed control wheel reduces accidental speed changes. The aluminum housing adds durability and reduces vibration, and the durable composite cover helps prevent cracked housings. The internal muffler makes this elite series pneumatic random orbital sander 6 dB quieter than the original series. 3/16” diameter orbit provides a moderate cut-rate and a fine finish on metal, composites, wood and more. The included Hookit hook and loop disc pad allows the operator to quickly and easily apply and re-apply hook and loop discs to the sanding tool. The Elite SGV sander is an integral part of the 3M™ Clean Sanding system made up of the SGV tool, Clean Sanding disc pad, and Clean Sanding disc (sold separately), engineered to effectively eliminate dust from the workpiece and surrounding space. Designed specifically to optimize the performance of this tool, the disc pad maximizes dust extraction and minimizes vibration for smooth operation. The 3M proprietary hole pattern reduces swarf in the middle of the pad and increases disc performance and life. Offering convenience and versatility, the Hookit system enables easy disc changeouts and allows operators to use Scotch-Brite™ discs in addition to coated abrasive Hookit discs (both sold separately). Using Your Pneumatic Sander This tool is intended to be operated as a handheld tool and is air-powered. It requires an air compressor that will provide a clean lubricated air supply with an airflow rate of 17 standard cubic feet per minute (SCFM), or 481 liters per minute (LPM), and 90 pounds per square inch (psi) at the tool, i.e. the point where the air hose is connected to the tool, when the tool is running with the level fully depressed. Recommended is an approved 3/8 inch (10 mm) airline at the minimum length required for the application, with a maximum length of 25 feet (8 m).
