Kelly Hoppen's style is easily recognizable as she has tweaked and gleaned her sleek look into a chic, modern style with a limited colour palette. She makes choosing a neutral palette simple and easy with her colour philosophy do's and don'ts...i.e. pairing the more warmer tones with gold while the cooler tones with silver accents. Side bar note: she has the same book released in the UK as the US - different titles, different publisher houses and different dust jackets - so don't order both unless you want one for the office and one for home.

I bought this book as I'm renovating my house and didn't know enough about design to get the 'wow' factor or at very least not make mistakes and end up with it not being quite right. Although my budget won't stretch to the luxury in the book there are great ideas with practical information on all aspects of design which I can now apply myself. Its easy to follow and to find key elements. I especially like the taupe/sand palette information, the use of 'banners' and the information on lighting. I lent the book to my friend as she'd had a new conservatory - she loved it and has since changed her colour scheme (she planned on taupe but the flooring dictated sand) and bought a 'statement' light.
