Works great with Wire Shark
Works great with Wire Shark sniffer software. Best price too.

This should be work related, right?
... I think the last time I was this excited about a network device I was 13 years old and my mom got me a 2400 baud modem for my birthday. The unit works exactly as described, it mirrors port 1 to port 5, leaving the remaining 3 ports as regular switched ethernet ports (though port 2 is also the PoE passthrough, which I haven't had the chance to test to that extent). It couldn't be more straight forward than it is. The USB power is fairly cool, I can imagine it being very practical when you're near a server rack trying to sort stuff out. Right now I'm actually using an iphone wall socket to power the unit since my router and switch is rather far away from my workstations. Works just fine. But I see a soldering iron in my future if/when that cable breaks (still beats scavenging ebay for a compatible power supply, waiting for it to be delivered, etc). The manual is...well...a single page that describes the device. There is no setup instructions or common scenarios, nothing. And that's ok, this isn't for the uninitiated anyway. If you can't figure out how to connect a switch tap you'll never get wireshark display filters to work for you anyway... 5 star for price, features, ease of use and I could ding them for the manual, but I won't. It's fine the way it is.

Good for monitoring
This is great for using WireShark to monitor Ethernet traffic to a device. You can only monitor though, not inject data in the stream. Works great for my purposes.

nice idea handy product to keep in the bag
was used to carrying around old dumb switches to do packet captures and they usually die as they were old to begin with and the final straw was one dying in the middle of client down situation.....so in looking for another replacement stumbled across this unit had never heard of the vendor before but they had some big names on their site for what that's worth but getting back to the product in replacing an old hub I this rig can fulfill another roll as a replacement switch should a client lose one in addition to its primary roll and I thought the price was reasonable I do not use it constantly but when I have used it to do some traces it has worked as advertised

Excellent product for a network intrusion detection system.
When I started doing my research for network taps I was surprised at the expense. It seemed that many products were over $500. What was I missing? It seemed like such a small thing to do, just like the old hubs. For my application, I needed a passive tap because it was going to be used to feed a network intrusion detection system (NIDS). Sure, I could have mirrored a port on my cisco switches, but I didn't want to lose any packets. The Dualcomm Gigabit Network TAP's price point made the purchase a no-brainer when comparing other products. When I received the product it was extremely simple to setup. No software configuration necessary. A simple passthrough from ports 1 to 2 with port mirroring on port 5. It doesn't get any easier than that. The system has been working great and has been successfully transmitting packets to my NIDS. I've already detected several worms on my internal workstations. It is hard to put a price on that. I recommend the product and don't have any complaints.

Great device and a steal for the price.
Considering most search results get you 1Gbps aggregiate taps for $750+ this tap is a steal. This tap works great and it's easy to use. The USB power cable is handy and convienent since you don't need to carry a power brick around. In my case I have it mounted on the top of my laptop via velcro.

Solid performance in a small package
I found the DCGS-2005L to perform exactly as advertised. It is straightforward to set up and use. It's small size and weight make it a good addition to a IT person's go-bag. My one complaint, and why the 4 instead of 5 stars is that; Fot the price they could have thrown in a wall wart. Otherwise I think it was a good value.

Great Ethernet Tap
There are cheaper tools that can tap into Ethernet connections (see Throwing Star on Amazon for $15), but only this Dualcomm supports full gigabit connections. Amazing. Used this to diagnose "what's going on" with a router to satellite link (discovered VLANs where I had not expected them). Also, the manufacturer responds to questions about the product.

Not bad

Great network tap for security/IT support use. Unlike many similar products this one preserves the MAC addresses of packets which is important for some applications. It's small and light enough just to keep in the work bag and USB power means no need to carry a separate power brick. It's not cheap, but good value if you need to do network snooping on a regular basis.

Didn't work out of the box, no ethernet lights on any of the ports when plugged into any device/switch. The power light does work and can only assume this is an internal hardware issue. Inquired to the seller as how to proceed, I have heard nothing back. Wish I could give a better review... sigh.
