Perfect entry level NAS.
Most of the issues have been resolved by WD! Pros: 1) With wired connection to the router I was able to stream 4K 10 bit HDR (no transcoding only direct play) content via Plex across all the TVs in our place. No lag, No stutters or buffers. 2) Auto-back up on iOS devices, social media platforms like Facebook and Google Photos is very seamless. 3) Sharing access to people is as simple as creating a shared link. 4) Web-App is good enough to manage data on the go on any platform. 5) The write and read speeds are good when the drive is connected directly to the router. Managed to transfer 30gb video files in ~10 minutes. (Check attached screenshot of disk speed test when NAS is LAN connected and the client is on a very good 5GHz network.) 6) On windows and macOS the drive is seen as a network drive after the WD Discover app is installed and setup. Supports even Time Machine backups. Cons: 1) YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. You cannot upgrade the HDD in future, this is the biggest downside of owning this device since if the HDD wears out, you won't even be able to replace it. 2) The CPU is very poor hence this is not recommended if it will mainly be used as a Plex server since it won't transcode anything above 1080p. However if transcoding is not needed, this is the best buy for the price. 3) Need more NAS features (support CCTV mounts, workstation mounts etc) even though it's advertised as a cloud disk. 4) People on the same network should be allowed to access everything with the right login credentials without needing to share every file/folder separately. Currently adding a new user creates a now storage space for them, this is good but another option to share the space as is would be helpful as well. 5) Need more control over the hardware, we can't even update firmware on our own. Updates are OTA in background automatically. Need a better settings page with more controls.

Best option for personal cloud
Awesome product...Bought it under 10k during sale...easy to setup in 3 simple steps....copy speed achieved 12 MB/s with internet speed of 100mpbs...Single file with 3-4 GB copies at 12 MB/s but if you try to copy photos, music with size 4-5 MB it copies at a rate of 3-4 MB/s. Can be accessed outside your network wherever internet is available...Using it continuously for 8 days without turning it OFF ..No heating issue at all...Easy to use apps designed by WD ios, android, and Windows...You can access through browser as well...Many more things to explore such as Plex server from which you can access from FireTv stick on tv to watch movies, TV shows stored on device.. You can grant access to different users with limited accessibility to folders...

Good product. Software (web page) tp access need lot of improvement
The hard drive is more elegant. The software to manage folders, files need a lot of improvement. It is not that user friendly like Google Drive data management. Copying/moving files from user folder to shared folder is not possible using MyCloud App. Need to install WD Discovery on PC/laptop for such tasks. One can't stay logged into MyCloud web page to access files/folder unlike Dropbox. It will log out automatically after few minutes of non usage. Another disadvantage is that the drive can not be accessed using USB port. It has be connected to a router to access files. So not user friendly to carry it one place to another place. Good thing is, one can add/delete users to use the drive and each others files can not be seen unless they are shared.

Colossal waste of money
The io is real bad hardly gives 40Mbps, the onboard processor is too slow to stream anything and setting up plex is way too difficult on it. The only way to use the storage is through the webapp, the uploaded files through smb are no where to be found on plex and youll have to go on a journey down the rabbit hole coz it creates folders with session ids and now you need to search through the entire tree to see where it can be. Ssh is not available, the web ui doesn’t even let you do bare minimal things

Great to store photos from your phones and google photos.
I've just started using the product and found it quite easy to use and share between family members to store a back up of photos and videos from both mobile phones and google photos. I've still to use it to back up other files, which i would do in due course. One negative i realise is that the storage needs to be connected physically to the broadband router(if this is wireless too, i haven't figured it out yet), and this physical proximity restricts where you can place it in your house.

Easy to use - constant heating issues - best source to get acess remotely
This product is as per the description and easy to use just need to create and account and you are ready to go. But it is having constant heating issues and because of that once you are done with your upload you need to remove the power cable as there is no switch to shut it down. And after some time you can again start using it. Being such and expensive product I don't understand why the manufacturer has not given a thought of it to just put and exaust fan in it.

Nice and a decent product
Its a good purchase but the only thing i have problems with is we have to manually include other files except photos. It only backs up photos on its own but other things we need to upload manually
