This is not hibiscus
Not hibiscus though looks like it. Hibiscus has many varieties which differ by looks or color. However they all have two common properties. First they release mucilage ir a slimy substance in contact with moisture and swell up. There was no mucilage release. Second they will temporarily stain your fingers scalp etc a brownish purple. This had no pigment. Might be some other leaf or flower. I have been drying home grown hibiscus for years. Recently moved to a city where i didnt find the plant!
