    My first Amazon product disappointment

I ordered these for a gift because vanilla grapefruit is a favorite scent of a friend of mine and difficult to find. The candles arrived with the glass caked and smeared with wax - and one was lacking a wick! Using a coat hanger I was able to fish the wick up and out from under about an inch beneath the surface. This was not remotely the kind of product I would feel proud giving a friend as a present. I cleaned up the glass by scraping and then wiping with paper towels. After way too much effort, I was almost amused to find that the gift boxes, that are shown and arrived with the set, are over sized to be a good fit for the product and made of the flimsiest paper I have ever seen folded to form a paper box. I wrapped the candles in bubble wrap, set them in the faux luxury branded boxes and fessed up about the ridiculous experience to my vanilla grapefruit candle loving friend. She laughed and seemed most appreciative. In a follow up conversation, she said the candle burns really well, smells wonderful and she appreciates the size. If you don't mind the sub Odd Lots appearance of the condition of your candles, this might be an ok product for personal use. Because of the odd packaging, presentation, and lack of quality control, I will look else where for future gift giving.
