Authentic Foods Arrowroot Flour, 2.5 lbs

Let's start with the good and work our way to the bad, shall we? Good price for the amount (the first red flag in hindsight). Great packaging, solid and secure enough that I have no need to decant it after. The flour itself works well in three different tried and true recipes - in a dredge, as a thickener and in baking bread. Here comes the bad: despite what they advertise on their Amazon page, they cut their arrowroot flour with something. Could be cornstarch, could be tapioca starch - my money's on this one since in America, at least, you can get away with labeling tapioca starch as arrowroot flour. Either way, this brand is cut with something because when I eat anything using this product my blood sugar suddenly spikes and spikes hard, no matter how little I eat of it. Unfortunately for the Authentic brand, I've had the luck of using another, actually pure arrowroot flour with these same recipes before, so I know how it should behave after I eat it especially since I already don't use traditional or refined flours and sugars.I debated putting up a review until I took a closer look at the wording on the actual packaging versus the wording on the Amazon page. While the Amazon page explicitly states that it is "corn-free", for example, my package doesn't carry that claim. It has almost every other claim expressly written on it, like being "gum-free, gluten-free..." etc, but the corn-free claim is missing on the actual packaging which hints to me at playing with advertising. I trouble myself to look for specific products for health reasons, so I really don't appreciate tricks with the ingredient list like this. If you don't have issues with tapioca or corn starch or blood sugar concerns, this product produces fine results in the kitchen. But if you're specifically looking for pure maranta arundinacea, arrowroot, look elsewhere.

I had posted a negative review about another arrowroot flour I purchase on Amazon (arrived slashed open, taped and leaking). That order was not fulfilled by Amazon (purchased on Amazon; fulfilled by another vendor). I wanted to rate this so that others will make THIS choice for Arrowroot Flour. It was fulfilled by Amazon. It arrived in fine condition. Much better packaging than the other one, too. Overall, a seemingly far better quality product/package. So...just get this one, even though it is 2.5 pounds and you may only want 1 pound. It's not worth it to have fine white powder all over you and your home and to have to make a return and then reorder from anther vendor. Just order the Authentic Foods Arrowroot Flour and rest easy.

They process this on the same equipment or in the same space as commonly used curry spices. Also it was not delivered on time because the UPS wanted me to sign for it.NEVER AGAIN. Bad quality product.

I use arrowroot in my homemade bread and as a thickener for gravies, puddings, desserts and etc. It is perfect and better to use than corn starch.

For whatever reason, the health food store here is always out of arrowroot flour (I make grain-free bread). Now that I've found Authentic Foods, problem solved

I use arrowroot flour in a Keto yeast bread recipe. I ordered this product because I wanted a larger quantity. It worked great. My bread turned out just as good as when I used my usual brand. I will order it again.

I breaded pork chops with this product and it was so delicious! However, my gravy was a fail, but I think it was my fault. I was trying to make a white gravy with almond milk...

Arrowroot works very well in pizza dough. The crust always coms out yummy.

I purchased this product for the first time because I wanted to make Chiapati bread. I don’t even know if I’m spelling that word correctly but anyway I had to start a diet called the AIP protocol diet and it really is restrictive. I went through so many recipes online trying to find some thing that I could have a flat bread of some sort but everything had rice flour in it or it had wheat flour or yeast in it and it’s stuff that I can’t eat. This one recipe called for coconut flour and arrow root flower plus coconut milk to make this chapati flat bread And I would say that I was very happy with the product because I could easily mix this into the coconut milk and there was no lumps it was wonderful.

Good quality at a fair price. I will purchase some again.
