Braided Leather Eyewear Retainers

I really like the sturdiness of the leather. The rubber bands seem sturdier than other eyeglass chains I've had. The single thing I'd change is to make it just a few inches longer. Maybe I just got used to the previous one, but this seems to get caught on my ears, collar etc sometimes. I'll revisit this review in the future depending on how long it lasts intact. Update April 2018 Bought in July 2014, used daily until rubber band broke today. Leather held up great! This is the best eyeglass holder I've ever had. It outlasted and outperformed every chain, rope, etc I've ever used. I'm giving it 5 stars & reordering Update August 2022 Finally became unusable because ferrule came off strap after tiny metal retaining ring broke. Rubber bands tended to last as long as not overtightened, although they slide on my 3mm titanium frames. Last time I tried to buy my 4th one, they were out of stock, so I bought others that I didn't like. This style rolled leather wears like iron and is neither cold in winter like chain, nor catched in hair or shirt. I'm ordering a couple more.

I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of this. I needed a cord for my craft glasses and after reading some not-so-good reviews, I decided to take a chance on the brown cord. A few weeks later and I'm very happy. The cord is great quality and is perfect for every day wear and tear. My baby even yanked on it a few time and no damage. The leather is soft. The brown is very dark and goes perfectly with my tortoise shell glasses. This is great for men and women. It's not dressy or fancy and t doesn't get caught in my hair. Very happy!

These are a good length, and are much thinner than most other glasses keepers. I've had one pair for a few years, and they have held up well, although as with anything leather, they've lost some of their gloss with use. (I've never tried polishing them.) I've used them on wire-rimmed sunglasses as well as a couple of different kinds of reading glasses, both plastic rimmed and wire rimmed. Croakies uses what I consider odd nomenclature, calling the adjustable ends which snug up to whatever size the temples are on your glasses "spec ends". The ends on these work fine, although I've had others which hold more tightly: the Croakies use a rubber band to snug the rubber end, whereas some brands use a metal bead. In my experience, ones with a metal bead hold better. The Croakies do seem to be made of premium materials, as the ends have held up better than some. My main wish would be for an option for an adjustment bead on the back of the cord, not as a replacement for these, but as an alternative for those who want or need to adjust the length of the cord, or to help hold glasses in place, say for sailing. I often am juggling reading glasses and sunglasses, and would love to be able to adjust the length.

I have been looking for a way to keep my reading glasses handy throughout my work day without hanging them on my shirt or sliding them up on my head (both of which get them smudged up). These leather cord retainers are perfect. The leather is small enough that it is not too bulky, but not too thin and cheap. The holders slide on the glasses and can adjust for any size glasses. I have very thin earpieces, and they adjusted down to fit tight. I am a big guy with a 21" neck, and these are big enough to fit around my neck and still let the glasses hand down out from under my chin/neck area. Great product!

I would not think making an eyeglass retainer, which is nothing more than a glorified string would be that difficult. $10 seem like a lot of money for what it is , but perhaps I was taken in by the words "premium leather" . I figured this would wear nicely and last for years. What I received resembles more of a stiff piece of plastic than leather. I'm not sure if the material relaxes in time or not. If it truly wears like a piece of leather then maybe it needs a break in period? It gets the job done, but still think it's pretty overpriced for what it is. It's not like somebody hand makes these things. I don't think I will bother to send back, but in retrospect I wish I would have purchased something different.

Breaks in 2 weeks under typical use! I bought these for a new pair of cycling sunglasses. Set them onto a new pair of Nike tailwinds...very soon, the left connection detached on the retainer. The culprit is the connection between the cord and grip which goes on the glass' temple. It broke and will not re-attach. I confirmed and the right connection is also rather weak. The whole point of a retainer is that it will not give in under tugging. What is this ... I think this is a flaw inherent in the design. Will be seeking retainers with a different design from now on. This brand is known for quality. This is a step in the wrong direction.

I am so pleased with the FINE QUALITY of this Croakies product that I ended up buying 2 for myself and 3 for my siblings (which I gave to them as Christmas gifts)! My brother and sisters LOVE them as much as I do! They had never worn an eyewear retainer until I gave them one ... but once they put it on, they've worn it every day and said they love it! We all like the premium leather for its thin, classy appearance and soft comfort. Although this Croakies product costs twice as much as some other eyewear retainers, it's absolutely worth the extra expense and I highly recommend it.

High quality and comfortable, unlike the type that slips onto the ends of your glasses.

This does not hold my reading glasses well at all. The loops that go on the arms of my glasses are two big, so my glasses slip right out all the time. Maybe with large arm sun glasses this would work well. But I tossed it aside and use an FMS Adjustable Paracord lanyard instead.

Hace 7 años compré con este mismo proveedor un par de correas como estas. Me resultaron muy buenas pero por el uso diario se me rompió. Me dio mucho gusto encontrar la misma correa para sustituir la rota pero al recibirla me Decepcionó. El cuero es duro y más grueso y las gomas que sujetas los anteojos no sirven para lo que son. Cada rato se safan y se me caen los lentes, por más que las apriete. A diferencia de la primera correa que era más delgada suave y flexible, características que la hace muy cómoda de tenerla al cuello todo el día; además las gomas que sujetan los brazos de los anteojos, eran muy eficientes. No se deslizan a menos que yo las afloje para cambiar de lentes. Intentaré cambiar las gomas a ver si puedo conguir unas buenas o quitar las de la correa rota para ponerla en la nueva y aguantar la incomodidad del cuero duro y grueso.
