Comfortable grip, thick blade, sharp. Quality traditional machete. Been cool if it came with sheath or scabbard.

I don’t usually write reviews because I’m not getting paid for it so who cares. But I need you guys to hear this. Honestly I’ve owned a bunch of machetes through the years. I like the concept but wasn’t ever really wow’d by them. Well this ain’t no Walmart machete made in China BS. This is the REAL deal. Heavy, heavy duty. Long. I wrestled with the price, with which length to get, this or the 18 inch. I’d get this one all over again. Feels so good to hold and sturdy in the hand. Absolutely devastating to whatever branch or lumber you are swinging it at. I jinxed myself telling my wife the edge wasn’t all that sharp. But it’s nasty. Jagged and sturdy edge. I ran my middle finger over it and immediately blood started sprouting out. Don’t let that working edge fool you. Overall, this will be a forgiving and dependable companion for a lifetime. I use the length to hell move logs around on the fire without getting burned....all kinda stuff. It’s my buddy. GET IT! The math on the price adds up if you have prime because of shipping costs.

Will come in okay shape for it being a discontinued machete. You can tell it’s been sitting around for awhile, the handle was dusty, and blade scratched up a bit but all in all, okay shape.

I've been a land surveyor for 20 years, and the OKC 22" is the go-to machete for many of us. We clear brush all the time, and this machete is one of the most durable I've seen. Under continuous use it will last years, but with enough accidental dings like clipping fences with it etc, the blade will weaken over time and most likely split. You definitely get your money's worth until that day happens though. I've only broken a couple in 20 years... It's far more common to lose them lol. Great product.

This machete is top knotch quality for the price. The only downside is they didn’t sharpen the first one I bought, but the second one is professionally sharpened. I put this product threw serious abuse,(I tried to break it) and it didn’t bend or loose its sharpness. Quality metal and an amazing quality finish.

I have owned several machetes and have always found them to be handy for a variety of tasks. This is by far the most expensive one I've ever purchased, and certainly the best quality. I knew ahead of time that I would have to sharpen it -- no problem. However, I do have a problem with the handle. It's solid, yes, but I find it to be very non-ergonomic. Every blow results in the machete twisting in my grip, which means I'm not controlling the action at all. This is a dangerous situation, especial given the heft of this blade and the momentum involved. This is a blader that should have a well contoured grip and it doesn't. I would've expected a better grip for the price. Like I said, sharpening the blade - expected. Replacing the grip? Not expected. I've never made a custom grip before, but I'm about to learn how to do it...

Very sharp and durable the handle everyone is right about the handle not the comfortable to hold but it will save your life that all it matters to me you could used rubber texter or better grip

The 22” Ontario machete is an absolute beast of a blade. If you have experience with other brands of machetes like Condor / Imacasa or Tramontina, this Ontario machete is a completely different animal. The Ontario has no distal taper. The whole blade is about ⅛" or 3.2mm thick. Most other machetes are about 2mm thick at the handle and the blade tapers to a little more than half its original thickness at the tip. The Ontario 22" machete weighs 11 ounces more than a Tramontina of the same length and most of that extra weight is at the end of the blade. The effect of the extra weight is stark. The Tramontina is made to quickly slash through lighter vegetation whereas the Ontario is made to chop through denser more woody vegetation. The Ontario plows through significantly bigger than thumb sized hardwood branches that would bog down the Tramontina. However, the extra weight in the Ontario's blade makes it slower for the same effort; often too slow to zip through vegetation that's light and flexible enough to move out of the way. It is possible to power though a swing with much more effort to chop light vegetation but the Tramontina can do this job with much less effort. I bought the Ontario because I deal with a lot of woody vegetation. It works great for that but it doesn't work great for traditional machete tasks. It's a specialized tool. It's way too heavy for general utility.
