I'm happy with this purchase. Works great for what I needed for the rifle range.

Nice find. Easy carry. Light weight.
This is a laser range finder as advertised. I took it out today and it worked very well. I have used a couple different finders in the past and I think this one wins out on its light weight construction and ease of use. First of all, the golf bag is already heavy enough. I don't want to have to keep adding weight to it. This Finder operates on a single CR2 battery (which was included) and I suspect it will last a long time. The range finder should be a low-power consumption device so it's predictably that a single battery should last a year or two. There is an auto power-off feature. No need to turn the device on or off. To use, just push the button and it comes on IMMEDIATELY ready to use. Then it powers off by itself. Oh, worth mentioning is that if you don't power it on, you still can use it as a simple monocular. It's got a 6x zoom and eyepiece rotates to focus. So it's also very good for that purpose--look down rage, see things, but without measuring any distance (if you don't want to). I am going to take this out to the gun range to see my targets at 50, 75, and 100 yards. Nope, I don't need to measure the distance because I know the distance already. I just want to use the monocular feature to look at my grouping. Neat! The range measuring comes in two modes: press down and scan continuously, or press once and get a snap read on the object. As with all laser range finders, the laser light bouncing back is what makes the Finder work. Windy conditions and long distances will take some patience in getting a good reading. Nevertheless, the reading is very repeatable which means consistency of the device. I focused my Finder on an object at about 150 yards and read it 20 times, all 20 times came back 150 +/- 1 yard. So it's very consistent in terms of repeatability. Out to about 200 to 300 yards it gets a bit tricky to get the laser focus. Also because at that distance the human hand shakes enough to cause the Finder to wobble. Again, this will be the same for any range finder and not just this one. So, that's that. Interestingly that this particular Range Finder comes with a tripod adapter to hold the finder steady. That's a great feature. However, I don't think I want to pack any more weight into my bag--it's already heavy! And anything more than 150 yards is pointless to measure anyway! The key to distance measuring is really about the last 100-150 yards where you want to know the pin location and pick the right club where a 9 or an 8 can make a significant difference either hitting the green or missing it completely. At about 250 yards or 300 yards, it doesn't matter your driver hits 200 or 215 yards--as long as it's on the fairway, it's good. So, my point is, I am not worried about the long distance wobble or the difficulty in finding a precise distance out to 250+ yards. I keep mine in the protective soft case and stuff it in my bag. It does come with a lanyard and lanyard loop.. but I don't want to bounce it around like a ragdoll. Afterall, it is still a precision instrument I don't want to let it get damaged. But the wrist lanyard is useful so that in case you accidentally drop it....... So, in conclusion: 1. Accurate - known distances (golf range has 150 and 100 yard markers) were verified to be true, on top of that, 2. Consistent - same object is measured 20 times and all measurements +/- 1 yard, which is well-within practical applications, 3. Light weight - for me, perfect. Bag is already too heavy, 4. Non-slip exterior casing (rubberized) for ease of handling, good grip, good traction, 5. Soft case, lanyard, and a piece of cleaning cloth included. 6. Practical, good for 150 yard (or less) pin range finding. 7. Easy to use - single button operation, super intuitive Lastly, this Range Finder has a speed mode to measure object speeds. Now I don't know what I will use it for. I guess measure the speed of a vehicle? I guess that's fun. Or how fast a bird is flying...? Well it's a feature. I am not complaining about it. I just didn't know what I will use that feature for and when. I did clock my cat strolling around at 2 KM/H speed. And yes, cars in my neighborhood consistently overspeeding. . . All things considered, it's worth the value. Laser Range Finders are priced about $100 nowadays regardless which one you get. I am pretty happy with mine. This is going to help me improve my consistency at golfing. At the practice range, I look at where I land my 9 iron (try to do it consistently) and then measure that distance. Now I know how far I will hit (again, if consistently hitting) my 9. and 8, and 7 .. Knowing your hitting distance is one key element to improving your game. Now you do have to hit that ball consistently, right? And that is the real challenge. Ha! Thanks for reading! Hope this helps!
