The clear winner in the KETO COCOA quest!
The clear winner in the KETO COCOA quest!I love chocolate. It’s one of my favorite flavors, and being keto it’s hard to find something that’s natural, low enough in carbs, and tastes good. This MCT powder has the perfect combination of elements: real chocolate (so it tastes amazing), just enough sweetness (from monk fruit, so it doesn’t spike my blood glucose) and creamy MCT powder (so I get that extra boost of energy). This was the fifth brand that I tried and was ready to give up hunting for an easy keto chocolate drink option. I’m glad I picked it up, I have it on autoship now.I’ve tried this as hot cocoa and it’s wonderful, smooth, and comforting. I’ve tried it in a smoothie with ice and heavy whipping cream and it’s just like a milkshake. The best for me though is to add it to coffee. It tastes EXACTLY like a mocha! Chocolatey, creamy, and just sweet enough. It’s become my habit to start my day this way so I get the benefits of the MCTs and enjoy my morning coffee so much more, since it’s a keto friendly treat.I’ve tried different Bulletproof recipes for coffee and they’re OK, but they need a blender. Key Keto Cocoa dissolves in my coffee completely stirring with just a spoon. It’s delicious and I know I’m getting a healthy dose of fats, no butter or coconut oil necessary.I’ve been taking MCT oil for months so I had no problem taking a full scoop of this to start with (and let me tell you, it was decadent.) If you’re new to MCTs in your diet, start with half a scoop for a few days until you’re used to it. I also don’t drink it late at night since the MCTs reliably give me energy and I don’t want to be up all night. When you get your canister, the jar will be bigger than the amount of mix inside, and this a good thing because you get a nice long handle on the scoop. I’m so tired of having to get powders all over my fingers scooping out mixes. This solves the problem because the scoop doesn’t fall into the powder.

Keto Cocoa: Which one to buy?
First off, if you are not trying to eat low carb and stay in a state of ketosis then go buy some powdered Hershey’s cocoa and follow the directions on the side of the container for hot chocolate. Hands down the best! However, if you have done that one too many times and now need a decent substitute, you’ll find this to be one of two top choices on Amazon: This product vs Giant International keto cocoa (black container). I first bought the Giant and found it to be a really decent end of the day treat. I use my latte frother to mix the powder with 1/3 cup heavy whipping cream. I then add hot water and a lot of whipped topping. That gets me to about 7-8 carbs. Mix itself is very low so reduce dairy for lower carb. The end result is a very decent substitute and enjoyable treat. I give both 5 stars for their intended purpose. How does this product compare? (My subjective opinion) My initial response was disappointment. The Giant version has a bolder chocolate taste I was accustomed to. In contrast, this keto cocoa is smoother. As I got about halfway through the container, I’ve come to like it as much, if not more. I’m almost out of both. When I finish this review, I’ll be buying another one of these. In Summary: Cant go wrong with either. Similar price point. Contents are close enough. Both blend the same. This one tastes smoother to me. The other a bit bolder in chocolate flavor. Happy Keto-ing!

Great flavor, a little goes a long way
As with most keto products, this is sweetened more than I prefer, so I was already planning to use less than a full scoop. I also only added it to my coffee for a mocha-like experience so I haven't used it any other way. I'm torn on the rating, the flavor is good, but if you've ever added pure dark cocoa to a recipe and gotten a taste of it you know what this tastes like (except sweeter than unsweetened pure cocoa). I could just add my own cocoa and control all the other ingredients I add, like MCT oil. It has very little protein, this is a fat adder with low carbs. I would prefer more protein, but I did enjoy the way it flavored my coffee and added some creaminess. 1/4 to 1/3 scoop in 12 ounces of coffee was plenty, which also made it last much longer increasing the value over cost. I used a bullet blender almost every time. Even with the bullet, and even using less than a full scoop, a lot of it settled out into the bottom of the mug. (Note the past tense throughout is because I finished the container today, I enjoyed the product, it just wasn't quite what I was looking for.)

Has Silica in it!
This taste amazing! Hands down the best tasting keto chocolate drink I have had. The reason I am giving it 3 stars.... it hurts. Y stomach. I did a test to see if my tummy was just sensitive because I had recently carb cycled on keto. It wasn't the case. It still hurt my stomach. I have never reacted to MCT that way and checked the ingredients before I purchased it. I don't recall reading it had silica in it. But it does... it is Sand... which is banned in food in Europe! It has no place in food! I don't honestly know if that specific ingredient is causing me pain... but I am still alarmed that it's in there!
