Q: How soon can you put a baby in this? Is it suitable for new borns?

Not suitable for babies who can’t hold themselves up. Think it states approx 6months +

Q: Can the mat be machine washed?

Yes it can be washed it my daughter who got it not me hope this is helpful

Q: Are the all hanging toys detachable?

They are. They each have lengths of fabric with Velcro tabs attached that go through fabric loops sewn in to the arches. However the fabric loops are tiny so getting them on and off are a faff, you wouldn’t take one of the toys off to play with, for example.

Beautiful quality

I absolutely love this play mat it’s so soft and looks very luxurious. It took me a while to figure out how to turn the lights on in the penguin as this wasn’t in the instructions- just press the flipper.

Fantastically soft and beautiful

This is beautiful. I bought it for my nephew and his parents are so pleased with it. It’s amazingly soft! And the detachable penguin lights up and is really soothing for baby.

4 stars! But one broken.

Love this item! It's so soft and my baby girl loves it. However, it was delivered with one of the stars broken. I think its the star that should rattle, but it makes no noise which is a shame.

damaged

Sadly the playmate arrived in a damaged box so I cannot state how good the playmat is as I haven't opened the box - just returning and reordering. I am annoyed as the Mama's and Papa's website customer services email address just keeps bouncing back. Hence the 1 star rating ......
