Solatec Solar Fountain, Black

I love this little fountain. It only works when the sun is out but is fairy effective then. Mine is in a bird bath and as the wind blows it around the edge the water from the jet spills out onto the grass so emptying the bird bath which needs re-filling all the time. It works very well though. The jet is about a foot high.

Easy to put together. Worked first time in the birdbath. Needs full sunshine to operate properly.

Easy to set up, but not quite as good as anticipated. In bright sunlight it works well, but since I live in the North West of the UK where we encounter a lot of overcast/rainy days, it barely works at all on some days. Ideally, it's low light performance needs to be improved. Another thing I've noticed was that my fish changed their behaviour when the fountain was introduced, when running I suspect the vibrations caused by the fountains internal pump must somehow be interfering with their sensory system? As they no longer readily surfaced for food? After recently removing the unit however, their behaviour quickly reverted back to normal?

I have used these previously, but not this make. It just spurts out a blob of water every few seconds, even in the strongest sunlight. Refunded.

Worked very well for about 3 weeks, it looked lovely in the bird bath, unfortunately, although it was cleaned often it suddenly stopped working

I don't know why previous buyers have moaned about this fountain. It does state that it is "solar powered" so I would expect it to work better when the sun was out compared to a cloudy day. This is just what it does do and what I would expect it to do. It is much cheaper that having an outside socket fitted then buying a pump (£155).It is brilliant for my small container pond which I have made for my patio. It comes with different attachment heads so you can choose what type of fountain you want.

The media could not be loaded. Ok this product is fab but in hindsight our mistake we should have found out more when ordering. we had a deep 30cm plant pot saucer which we thought would be ideal as it easily fits in the middle. The problem was when in direct sunlight the fountain is so high that it doesnt go back into the saucer, it goes on the ground hence water runs out very quickly and approx every 15 minutes need to put more water in. easily solved we ordered a 60cm plant saucer which has fixed the problem but the photos were a bit misleading as a couple showed it in small bird baths which as we found wouldnt work. Great little fountain tho - hope this has been helpful
