Everyday low prices and free delivery on eligible orders. Review: Lucky Luke - still going strong! - I Imagine that anyone who orders a Lucky Luke book will know who the hero is and will enjoy it! My son (in his 50s) still enjoys them and his son has now discovered them. All good! Review: Absolute classic - wonderful stuff - Every time a new Lucky Luke book translation arrives from Cinebook I'm 10 years old again and it's Christmas day! This book is an absolute classic from Morris and Goscinny. Along with Luke and his thoughtful horse Jolly Jumper we have a glorious cast of characters who themselves could spawn a whole comic book series. There are quite a few Lucky Luke books which show trips across America, and this is another one, however this time there are four professor characters who have only an academic perspective on life and are wholly unprepared for wild America. They are however somewhat resourceful and the priceless duel shown on the front cover is an example of this. On the same day I read this my nine year old daughter also read it. We both loved it, but often laughing at different things - and that's what's wonderful about these books, my daughter could be laughing for another 50 years yet at the same book. Fantastic stuff.

Good potential in this relatively early story in the series, with four hilariously unworldly scientists wandering around the Far West on an expedition, chaperoned by Lucky Luke. Actually he doesn't have a lot to do in this adventure. Only the ending with dated jokes about alcoholism among the Indians spoils the fun a bit -- some of the old-style humour in Lucky Luke may come off as pretty insensitive and off-colour these days. The funny situations encountered by the surprisingly self-reliant scientists are the best thing here, and make the book worth a look, however.

Une manière sympathique d'apprendre l'Anglais, grâce à des expressions exclusivement orales. Avec le plaisir de lire Lucky Luke en plus.

Good old classic. One of the best of the series.

I was so excited to finally see Lucky Luke published in English! I was accustomed to this absolutely fabulous comic book, and have read almost all of them in their respective German and Greek editions. I bought this particular one (the Black Hills) for curiosity and as a gift (one of the best gifts, and not only for children!). The print is impressive, paper is good quality. As for the English translation, I admit that it is superb and captures most of the jokes (original text is in French). My one and only complaint, and that's the reason I give only two starts for this edition is that the editors have chosen many weird and sometimes unacceptable colors for some of the pictures. The color red is for whatever reason dominant, and fails to capture lots of details. For this issue in particular, as an example, notice on page 31 how poorly the snake has been depicted. If you check any other editions, notably the German and Greek, colors are "correct" and provide all the details! Other than that, this comic book is a huge "must" to read and keep to your collection!
