Bought this tool hesitantly after reading some of the low reviews, bearing in mind it was to fit the springs/cotters on my 1.9 diesel Trafic. I opted for the blue set, but I don't think there's any difference between that and the red set other than the 20p, and at £13.59 I couldn't fault it. Valves were already removed, I removed the original cotters using the socket and hammer trick (have a search online) so the tool was only used to replace the new springs & cotters. Before using, I did oil the threaded bars to reduce any excess friction and yes the first couple were fiddly, as others mentioned, you almost need 3 hands. By the time I'd got to the 3rd, I'd figured it - position the frame against the head then as you're winding in or out you only need to hold the 'socket' part to stop it turning. There's no need to wind the spring right in, in my case, about 10mm of compression exposed enough stem to get the cotters in place, using a small magnetic tipped screwdriver and hooked dental pick I could position each cotter, and a drip of oil on the end of the stem was enough to hold them in place as I unwound the tool. I wonder if the negative reviews either abused the tool or weren't sure what they were doing. I would definitely recommend this, there was no bending of the main frame and it fit perfectly in the case after use ready for next time. £13.59 with next day delivery was well worth the spend and saved me paying for a couple of hours labour in the garage.

This tool does just as described. It's easy to use and well made.

Delivery great had doubts as to will it work it did but on one valve it whould just fit due to casting of the cylinder head. Apart from that work we'll on disassembly no tried for reassemble yet.

Super produit qui nécessite de déculasser mais franchement c'est beaucoup moins de stress que la manière sans déculasser qui elle, nécessite de se mettre en tension et c'est pas top, surtout pour la repose des demi-lunes! Ici aucune tension avec le bras, il suffit juste de visser tranquillement en maintenant la cloche qui pousse le ressort pour éviter qu'elle tourne et déborde trop sur le côté. Résultat, aucun ressort qui vous saute à la tronche avec des demi-lunes qu'il faut ensuite retrouver aux quatre coins du moteur.

Ich hab es mal ausprobiert und es funktioniert so wie es soll daher 5 Sterne allerdings ist es ne nette Spielerei die deutlich mehr Zeit in Anspruch nimmt als wenn man es ohne dieses Werkzeug macht, brauchen tut man es nicht

Perfectos y funsiona en un motor volkswagen 1.9 tdi del 96, con doble muelle... ni se deforma ni nada, solo hay q saber usarlo. Soy electromecanica y me va fenomenal.

L'ho usata per smontare una testata di un transit 2500 cc aspirato, ha fatto il suo dovere ma si è leggermente deformata. Sicuramente per motori piu piccoli è ottima ma io avrei preferito che fosse un pò piu solida. Per il prezzo pagato e per un uso occasionale è più che valida
