What a pain!!
What a pain! I was so excited that I could supposedly buy this product and not drill holes in the back of my boat to mount my depth finders transponder! Things were looking great as I mounted it to the back of my boat without any issues. But!!! The issues came when I tried to mount the transponder to the stern saver. I bought self tapping stainless steel wood screws as the directions say but man....I can’t get the screws to go into this stern saver. Even after drill pilot holes. The screws just want get a “bite” as I try to screw then into this stern saver which seems to be made out of some type of resin. The screws just kind of burn into this resin without really going in and tightening up. Finally the screws holes just kind of hollowed out and the screws fit loosely into the holes. I didn’t feel confident the screws wouldn’t fall out and I would lose my transponder so I drilled more pilit holes below the original pilot holes and tried it all over again. And got the same result!! Now At this point I decided to go ahead and put the screws in and use some 3m 5200 marine adhesive to hopefully lock the screws into place so I don’t loose my transponder by the screws coming loose. It’s mounted and the glue is drying so I guess I’ll find out in a couple of days when I get my boat in the water if it’s going to hold. I’ve never encountered the type of material like this stern saver is made of. I describe it as a soft plastic type material and more soft than hard so it’s very easy to strip out or hollow out. Hopefully you’ll have better luck than me if you buy one. Maybe I got a bad one.

Easy Install
The only way to go. I have them on 3 boats and they have all held up well. Makes it easy to adjust or change transducers.

The epoxy is a waste
Kit came with everything needed. I put the tip on the epoxy as instructed. When trying to squeeze it into the holes all it does is pour out the sides when the nozzle connects to the syringe. Now to decide whether to return it or try and find an epoxy that will work. So definitely won’t be operation for the weekend trip. Just frustrating.
