Four upsides and a downside
For five years I've lived in this home with a 75 gallon gas hot water heater. It was in the house when I moved in and to be honest I've never had any complaints. Though it worked fine I decided to change out and because we are going solar roof next year I wanted to go electric. For the same reason we had gone gas furnace to electric heat pump for heating. I needed to decide whether to go electric tankless or electric heat-pump water heater. I went with this unit, the 29kw size. There are only two of us in the house so it seemed more prudent. We have several EVs and the largest tankless along with EV charging would be a fairly large load even for 200 amp service. First the upsides: 1. Unlimited hot water. Both of us can take showers at the same time. The only issue that two of us can have is if both of us want showers while the first cycle of the clothes washing machine is running. Minor limitation. Timing is everything. 2. Absolutely using no power when we aren't using water. We can go away for a month, walk in the door and take a shower and get instant hot water. 3. Accurate temperature control. We have two presets and one has been set for filling the soaking tub. Just press the button and then run pure hot water to fill the tub. The tub gets filled to perfection without figuring out the calculus of the mixing valve which changes depending on the temperature of the water coming into the house. This is a great feature that nobody told me about. 4. The house was originally built with what I consider a shortcoming. The hot water heater was located next to the furnace so it could use the same flue and gas connection. This is fine for ease of install but the hot water heater is on the other side of the house from where the hot water is most often used. Running the shower in the master bath or the sink in the kitchen required a full minute of water running to get hot water. We now installed the tankless beneath the kitchen where we use the water. No flue is required. This unit goes anywhere. Now we have hot water in a hurry where we use it. The downside. I once had a power failure that lasted several days. The water heater was the same as I replaced - used no electricity and vented naturally through a flue. There is something nice about a hot shower during a power failure. That will no longer an option. But then, I haven't lost power in five years. The only upside of the tankless heat-pump water heater would have been its (limited) supply of hot water during a power failure and its natural de-humidification feature. With everything considered, we went tankless. Just a tip, the most often warning I've heard with tankless is impurities in the water that can collect. To reduce this problem we installed a whole-house water filtration system after the water-softener and ahead of the heater. Note that I only gave tech support three stars - that is because I didn't need them so never found out about their quality. I did need power though and didn't have the required six circuit breakers that the unit required. I installed a 125 amp sub panel dedicated to the water heater. The unit has been flawless. It just works.

Efficient and Reliable Hot Water Solution
I recently had the Stibel Electron Tempera 20 electric tankless water heater professionally installed in my two-story home, and I couldn't be happier with the results. The installation took about four hours, including the addition of a whole-home water filtration system on the main line. The unit's performance has exceeded my expectations in terms of convenience and efficiency. First and foremost, the unit is impressively quiet, and its space-saving design is a game-changer. It doesn't take up much room, and the minimal noise is a bonus, especially if it's installed near living spaces. But what truly sets this tankless water heater apart is its ability to provide a continuous flow of hot water. I've tested it by running two showers simultaneously for an extended period, and there was no interruption in the supply of hot water. The heater only uses the hot water necessary, which is not only eco-friendly but also cost-effective. The temperature control is precise, ensuring that you get the hot water you desire without any fuss. I appreciate the quality of this unit, and even the licensed plumber who installed it mentioned that it's one of the top brands in the market. This gave me confidence in my purchase decision. I had concerns about whether it would deliver hot water everywhere in my house, but those worries were unfounded. My two-bedroom, two-story home now enjoys consistent hot water supply throughout. Of course, like any appliance, it's important to manage usage efficiently. Running multiple showers, a dishwasher, and a washing machine simultaneously might be a stretch for any water heater. However, with a bit of scheduling and planning, I've had no issues. I wash in the morning, run the dishwasher before bedtime, and take showers at various times throughout the day, ensuring they don't overlap. In conclusion, investing in the Stibel Electron Tempera 20 electric tankless water heater has been a wise decision for my household. It's efficient, reliable, and space-saving, making it a top-notch choice for anyone in need of a hot water solution. I also highly recommend having it professionally installed for peace of mind. It's a purchase that I'm truly satisfied with.

Top quality tankless water heater at a great price!
I'd been looking to get a tankless water heater for a few years, but the unit prices plus installation were just too high until now. This Stiebel Eltron whole home electric tankless water heater was out of my budget until I found this open box unit price reduced by 48% of retail. This 2025 SE unit has a top of the line digital display panel that makes increasing temperature and gpm water pressure and flow adjustments easy and instant. You'll wonder why you waited so long. If you're a DIY person there are also multiple you tube videos about how to install and what's needed. The most important thing to know is that this unit requires 3-50amp dedicated breakers, so check your electrical panel before you buy any tankless heater as the amps needed vary based on the heater size and gpm's needed. I highly recommend this high quality Stiebel Eltron Tempra 36pro whole home tankless water heater as it produces 100°+ hot water within 1-2 minutes vs my old 75 gallon tank that caused me to wait 5-7 minutes and wasted several gallons of water before it reached the hot temperature I needed to bathe or shower. I can't wait to compare the savings, and I recommend this SE Tempra 36pro tankless water heater. The electrical wiring and installation requires an electrician or an experienced person to install this top of the line high-end, best in quality and performance unit. Thank you Stiebel Eltron for selling top quality equipment at a great price and free Prime shipping. You made this a 100% positive Amazon experience!

Great electric tankless water heater.
Our 20 year old water heater finally quit. The wife always wanted to replace the old one with a tankless as it was installed in our master closet. It took up valuable space as there is Never enough room for her clothes and shoes.lol. Read the review and decided to order this one Replacement is fairly easy for a skilled DIYer. Unit is light and easy to install on the wall. Unfortunately the unit isn't set up for USA house stud layout as the mounting holes are 15" on center. I ran wood screws into studs on one side and used drywall anchors on the other. That was sufficient to securely mount . Plumbing is straight forward. I replaced flex lines with PEX and insulated the hot sided. Though I don't think it's really needed. Electrical can be a little complicated and you really need to take a look at your main or sub panel that powers the water heater. The old tank heater only needed one 220 volt 30 amp breaker circuit to run. This unit needs 3 separate 220 40 amp circuits to run. This means you need 2 more 220 volt spaces in the breaker box to add those lines. If you don't. You'll need to install a sub box to run. I'm not comfortable with electricity so I hired a professional electrician to properly wire. He had to run 2 new lines and drill through walls to get them from box to heater. It was a task I gladly paid for. That did cost $1200. Seemed a little high but that seems the going rate here in central Texas. Usage. I first set it at the 119 degree setting. Temp was. Ok but I would have to run my show only with the hot side running. It was warm but not super hot. So I turned it up to 125 and definitely had to add cold water to the shower. I finally cranked the thermostat all the way up and can now shower using 50/50 hot to cold water for the perfect shower temp. Since this is an on demand hot water heater expect a minute or so for the hot water to reach your tap if you haven't used In a while or first thing in the am. After that.. it stays hit for ever and I haven't had it run cold. Hope this helps. We are really happy to get this water heater. Now time to install more shelves and closet rods so my wife stops using my area for her clothes. Lol

Heats Water Quick...BUT BE PREPARED!!!!!!!
Amazon Review Product: Stebo Electron Tankless Water Heater Temperature 24+ Electric On-Demand Water Heater Rating: 3 out of 5 stars Headline: Simple but expensive to install Review: The Stebo Electron tankless water heater is a simple and sleek design that heats water on demand, saving energy and space. However, it is important to note that installation can be expensive, especially if you need to upgrade your electrical service. I installed the Stebo Electron in my home five months ago and, for the most part, it has worked well. The water heats up quickly and consistently, and I have not had any problems with running out of hot water. However, there have been a few times when the water has not gotten as hot as I would like. One of the biggest drawbacks of the Stebo Electron is the cost of installation. I had to hire an electrician to upgrade my electrical service to support the water heater, which added an additional $1,500 to the cost of the installation. Another thing to keep in mind is that the Stebo Electron requires a water filter to protect it from sediment and other impurities. The filter needs to be replaced every six months, which adds to the ongoing cost of owning this water heater. Overall, I am satisfied with the Stebo Electron tankless water heater. It is a simple and efficient way to heat water, but it is important to be aware of the high cost of installation and the need for a water filter. Pros: Heats water on demand, saving energy and space Simple and sleek design Consistent hot water delivery Cons: Expensive to install, especially if you need to upgrade your electrical service Requires a water filter that needs to be replaced every six months INfo Water has not gotten as hot as I would like on a few occasions, But that could be my shower location. Recommendation: I recommend the Stebo Electron tankless water heater to homeowners who are looking for an energy-efficient and space-saving way to heat water. However, it is important to be aware of the high cost of installation and the need for a water filter.

Efficient - Easy Install
Installed June 2022 INSTALL NOTE - I am not a plumber and this stretched my mechanical DIY-er mentality, but I did install this on my own: be careful if you choose to install this on your own. I chose NOT to do the electrical upgrade required on my own - the risk of not getting that right was too high, so I paid my electrical contractor to upgrade the box for the 3 x 50 amp breakers - NO REGRETS! I knew my 55 gal standard electric water heater was not going to last much longer due to the units age AND the fact our local city water is awful with calcium and build up. I researched the available setups and units ad nauseum, and went with this unit: the brand recognition and reputation, the size due to our house and expectation that we will eventually sell it. When I bought this unit, it was one of the larger of its type and was actually cheaper than if I went with a standard water heater to match the one I was getting rid of. First, the drop in electric usage has about paid for 50% of the unit cost over the last year - yeah, THAT MUCH! Results will vary I am sure, but its just my wife and I in 2200 sq ft house, so the fact it runs "on demand" just makes sense. Another way to measure savings: I am all electric in this house and during extreme seasonal weather I could easily see a monthly electric bill $250-300, using either my heat pump or my additional heat source in the house. I have yet to see a monthly bill above $180 (Ohio weather from summer 90s down into the single digits in the winter). The temp control is amazingly simply - we found 115 works fine and can take a long hot shower. But I can walk out and dial it up or down if I chose. The install (outside of the electric) was not too bad. I have PEX plumbing in my house, so it was a no-brainer to use that with the majority of this project. I spent the money to buy heavy brass shot off valves (probably overkill) for the IN/OUT inlets on this unit. It will make a difference if I ever have to repair or replace the unit: I can easily isolate the unit from the flow of water. Assuming we will move in the future, I will be looking for a house that either has a tankless or can be upgraded to tankless: its a great decision and works amazing.

I hate this thing
I am so disappointed that we invested in this electric water heater. I was actually excited when our old water heater died on us because I’ve been wanting tankless for a while. We also have solar at home so I knew we wanted electric. All research pointed us to this brand so we went for it. 900 bucks and another couple grand for install later I can’t wait to tear it out and replace it. Why? Not energy efficient. We have 3 bathrooms in our home so got the highest model yet when we run the shower it takes a while (7-10 min) for the hot water to come through to our 2nd floor bathrooms so we’re pulling lots of energy waiting it out. Okay fine. Well it wasn’t until I got my electric bill for over $400 that I realized it takes soooo much power to heat up even our solar (I live in california AND I have 3 solar batteries!!!) couldn’t manage it! Because of it all of us have moved to showering in the downstairs bathroom and being mindful of how long we shower (like, legit army showers) because of how incredibly high the bill was. On top of that, while it was pulling about 10-15 kW of energy to heat our showers, I stupidly decided to draw a bath for the kids and that kicked it up to 30kW!!!!!! It’s absolutely crazy. (For comparison and reference, if I left every light and fan on in my 3k house, ran both my HVAC air conditioners, run both my Dutch ovens, AND my air fryer, my home would pull about 16 kW of energy! You really need to understand what triggers the water heater and how much power it thinks it needs to pull based on the flow/regulator. Consistency. Despite the high price tag that came with heating my shower I would have at least appreciated it if the water remained consistent once we got it hot, which is a standard expectation for tankless water heaters. But no. It is so fickle. It’ll get awesomely hot but then 10 min later go cooler. Sometimes ice cold. I’ve tried everything to ‘trick’ it back to engage the hot setting - like turning off the shower entirely wait 10 seconds maybe tap dance for good luck and then turn it back on. It sometimes worked. If I wanted to adjust the temp midway for any reason it also seems to trigger it to turn off! It is maddening. And my kids are miserable I feel so bad for them. I would literally scream in the shower then this would happen to me. So frustrating. Water pressure - even though we got the top of line high performance model my beautiful shower greatly reduced in water pressure no matter what we do. Our water pressure in general is set quite high so it was really surprising this could even happen. Customer service was the same unfriendly woman the couple of times we called; we had to really be charming before being able to get her from cold to acceptably tepid (like their product). She finally shared that there probably isn’t anything that can be done on their end as our shower heads and faucets have regulators that ‘speak’ to the water heater to engage it etc and apparently something weird is going on. Fantastic, gas light us to say it’s not me it’s you. So we are helpless. By the time we figured all this out it was beyond the return date. Of course. We plan to probably go back to a regular tank heater at this point because we are scared to lose even more money. Hope to sell this piece of junk and maybe it’ll actually work properly for someone else. We give up. We got the most expensive best capacity model available. Maybe the other models are fine given the reviews I see here but I needed to share our very frustrating and costly experience. Please do your research - there’s so much more than just hooking this up. Find out what pressure is needed to engage the heating and understand any regulators your showerheads may have. And before the return window closes. Good luck!
