I Loved You Before You Were Born: A Heartwarming Tale of Grandmotherly Love

My son and daughter-in-law just had a baby. This book is just perfect for Grandma on Daddy's side. I bought it without knowing and cried when I read it. A must have for Dad's Mom.

Bought this as a gift for a grandmother to be and she absolutely loved it! Very beautifully written book, that will be a sweet story time favorite for grandma and baby!

In fact, I loved this book so much that I bought it two years ago and my first grandchild was only born last night. And, even though the sentiments expressed in this dear book are mine exactly, the picture of the 'grandmother' on the cover looks more like a 'great-grandmother!' This is my only criticism of the book. So, when I inscribe the book (which I believe all books should be), I shall tell my son's lovely little girl that I really look a lot younger. This book is a love letter from a grandmother to her grandchild. Fortunately, the gender is not revealed so it's perfect for a girl or a boy. The grandmother is telling her grandchild that she thought about her (I'll say her since we have a girl), dreamed about her, wondered about her. She tries to imagine how this precious baby looks, and even visualizes her crawling, sleeping, and seeing her first Christmas tree. The sweet last words of this book with the lovely pictures are, "When it was my turn, I held you close and rocked you and whispered, "I am your grandma and I love you." I LOVED YOU EVEN BEFORE YOU WERE BORN!" I can't wait to read this to my new granddaughter~~only she'll call me "Mormor"! I wish my Swedish grandparents and mother were here to see this precious gift.

I am the mother of six children (four boys and two girls) and the grandmother of 10 grands and not to mention the extended family which would bring the count well over 100. My son and his wife are expecting a little girl in September and as I read the book so many memories came over me. Yes I can remember when he was in my tummy and yes I remember how he would kick and roll...and yes it did bring tears to my eyes. I am very sentimental and this is why I gave the book five stars. I have thought about this baby wondering how she will look, if she will have a head full of hair like her daddy when he was born. I have soooo many thoughts running through my mind. Will she look like her daddy or mommy? Will she have his chin dimple? I can't wait to count all of her fingers and toes, see, hold, touch and smell her. Yes,I am your grandma and I love you. "I Love You Even Before You Were Born!" What a beautiful book. That is what I am going to tell her when she is placed into my arms and I hold her for the first time. I read what other grandmothers had to say and all I can ask...does it really matter? The book is about feelings a grandmother has towards her unborn grandchild wether it be boy or girl. I know they will love this child because it is a part of them. I know because that's what we as grandmother do best...love. I am counting the days until she is born I can't wait to see her!!

Cute book. Unfortunately no where in the description does it say that it is for a paternal grandmother. I am the maternal grandmother.

Love this book. Since the COVID this year, our granddaughter was born in June, 2020. But we live in another state, and we’re unable to even hold our baby Granddaughter or even just give her a kiss. We will not be able to hold and hug her until her first birthday in June, 2021. This book helps me. To not cry when I miss my baby granddaughter, and I can read her the story.

I purchased this book for a good friend who is becoming a first time grandma very soon. I received my own copy when I was becoming a first time grandma about 4 years ago. As it turns out, my grandson LOVES this book. He knows it is my special book about him and almost always asks me to read it to him at bedtime when he is with us. He loves hearing about himself before he was even here. I do wish there was another version of it for those who have a daughter and son-in-law having a baby. The current version is for a family with a son and daughter-in-law having a baby.
