Automatic-darkening welding helmets turn out to have a couple of button batteries soldered into them, and you have to disassemble them to get to the batteries. On mine, that's a pair of 3 volt button cells. I pried the module open, unsoldered the battery tabs and removed the old ones, and wired one of these holders into where the + and - terminals had been. I routed the holders outside the module for easy future access. I also rewired the red wire to bypass the switch on this holder, since the welding helmet has its own switch. Hey, all you welders can solder, right? Fixed the problem, and future battery replacement will be easy.

My Snap-on/Save Phace auto darkening welding helmet quit and the battery is not replaceable. It is now!

These are cheap and do exactly what is advertised. All the ones I have used so far works. Soldering looks good (my neighbors dog chewed one up and I got a good look inside) and easy as pie to install. Buy with confidence IMHO ...

These are cheap, and they're fine, but some of them just don't work at all. If I wanted to spend 30 minutes trying to diagnose it, I'd just make my own. It's basically like wasting 20% of whatever you buy these for, because some just will not work.

These wired battery boxes were purchased to replace a broken battery box on an older fishing hat. The top cracked while changing batteries. That hat is no longer available. These were just what I wanted and needed. Simple snip/snip, then spliced in the replacement batt.box. Used a sticky hook&loop to put it in the hat. Back in use, for another 5 years I hope.
