My Body Belongs to Me

After reading all the wonderful reviews I was happy to think that I had found the perfect book to help talk through a very difficult family situation.I have never been more disappointed. The content of this children's book was far too specific in it's scenario to do any good and far too one sided in its approach. It also didn't adequately describe the adults role, only briefly mentioning anyone other than Mom or Dad.Reading this book made me very uncomfortable, not just because of the subject matter but by the way it was presented. My opinion is that this book could do more damage than it would help. Especially if the offender is a family member or another child.If you suspect abuse, please look elsewhere for an aid to starting that conversation with your child. this book IS NOT it.

Unfortunately there comes a time when every parent has to have a brief talk with his or her child discussing proper boundaries and reinforcing the need to communicate any concerns of that nature to the parents. This book helps to have that conversation. We have only read it once and I plan to ask my wife to read it again and to reinforce the needed communication with our daughter.I recommend this book. I really think there is a serious dearth of children's books that deal with the issue of molestation or other inappropriate behavior that a child might encounter.

I love this book and it's perfect to introduce to kids especially in the times we're living with sick pedophiles and child molesters. Every parent should have this book.

It is a simple book with rhyming text and cute illustrations. It is helpful that the child in the book could be either a boy or girl. It basically tells a story of a child who is touched inappropriately, who reported it, and knew they did nothing wrong. There is no information about good touch, bad touch, the specifics of where one should/should not be touched, how good and bad touches make you feel, or when it is okay to be touched in private places (doctors, etc).For the principles it teaches it keeps it very simple though, and there is always the option for discussion in the middle of the book. If you want something simple, this does a good job. If you want more information, keep looking. This is not the best option for therapeutic use.

This book is a great way to introduce a conversation with kids about personal space and saying no. The book itself was a little dirty, didn't realize I was buying it used.

This is the ideal book to introduce this difficult topic to young children. As a parent, it's so hard to know how to broach these concepts with children because you want to inform them without making them feel over-anxious or worried. This book gives parents an important tool to help children understand what to do if they feel someone has done something to them that didn't feel "right" or appropriate. I think the concept "My body belongs to me" is powerful for kids. I would recommend this book to all parents - especially those with young children.

This is a great way to teach children that it's not okay for anyone to touch their body. That they are the boss of their own body. It also teaches them to tell a grown up like parents or a teacher if someone touches them or tries to touch them. And that it's not their fault.

it's sad that this is something that we have to discuss with our children today, but you'll be glad you did. teaches children to respect their bodies and what to do when someone trespasses.

Fantastic way of bringing this subject to life in a way that young children can easily understand and interpret at their level.

es ist eine schwierige frage, wann man kinder mit bestimmten themen konfrontiert. dieses buch hier eignet sich wohl eher für sehr kleine kinder. unsere sind schon im vorschul-/schulalter, da ist dieses buch nicht mehr so ganz geeignet. im übrigen ist es unkonkret, so dass sich kinder darunter nicht viel vorstellen können.

Very Good, not too scary!
