direct bolt in. perfect fit
The item was a nicer quality than original. The fitment was perfect and size and length of wire and gas line were perfect. You can put this in if you have the knowledge to do so or are mechanically inclined. You have to take the firebox apart as it is nearly impossible to remove this with the fake log and burner installed. It isn't impossible however its a waste of time to try. Get the replacement gravel and fake tinders and make your firebox look brand new. If you have 10 thumbs, pay someone else to install it.

Unreliable trash
I bought two of these, one for each fire place, just over a year ago. They have both failed. One will no longer keep the pilot light going and the other won’t allow the allow gas to flow when turned on.

Direct fit, this unit was defective.
While it was a perfect replacement. It only lasted about 10 days post install and then started to just flame out. I’d flip the switch once pilot was reset, and nothing. On off on off enough times in the switch, it would turn on again. So while it fit the unit as a direct swap, and it could just be this one unit that was defective… I’m buying yet another replacement but trying a different vendor and hoping for a better outcome because it sucks having to do an 1/8” turn of a small wrench at a time yet again 2 weeks later while in the floor sprawled out in your belly. Also, I bought the orange fire foam replacement sealant to make it just like factory when the project was done. It wasn’t necessary.
