Review: Great Entry Level Safe - Needed to buy a cabinet safe and looked on desertcart. I found this desertcart Basics steel safe and at £100 thought it looked like a great entry level safe. Took the risk of purchasing and since it arrived I have not had any issues. Everything was in the box, nothing missing, no damage to safe either. The electronic keypanel for setting up a code (3 to 8 digits) was extremely easy to follow. Also the two safe keys supplied worked fine. They are initially a little tight to push in but if you're gentle enough shouldn't have any problems gaining access to the safe if the batteries for the electronic side are exhausted. The only downside I found is that the electronics of the keypanel entry does protrude into the safe space which means you can't place items too far forward towards the safe door as the keypanel housing pushes on to your stored items. However I can live with that. For the price it is value for money and a wonderful entry level safe. Of course burglars could steal it if not secured to wall or floor, they could carry it away, even though it is heavy. For me just nice to have that extra layer of security on items that need protecting.

It’s got weight to it so for me, it’s great as a family safe for personal documents and valuables. The lock is quite fascinating if you haven’t had an electronic safe before. It was easy to code, takes 4x AA batteries and you can silence the buttons if you wish. You have 2 spare keys should you forget to change the batteries but it warns you with a red/green light combo when it’s nearing the time. The shelf is removable. You can feel the quality of the build especially when you’re simply opening it. It looks like a 2x 14mm pin locking mechanism that most ordinary people would not know how to bypass and it’s using typical lock keys which are known for being very hard to pick. Similar to the types of locks used for motorcycles and they are generally made for this purpose. The exterior of the safe gives the impression that it’s steel walls are much thicker. If you want security at home in the general sense of other residents or visitors this is exactly what you are looking for. However, if you are wanting a serious cash safe Inside Man job you’re going to be needing a lot more money to throw at a safe.

**Q: hello, does not offer the larger size safes on Amazon?**
A: maybe you could check other brands, i have a 64L tianqinuk safes.

**Q: Does this safe have wheels?**
A: No it does not have wheels, however with suitable castors and a drill with a metal bit, this would be an easy DIY fix.

Having a safe on wheels though is not recommended for obvious reasons. For the safe to be at it's most secured, it's designed to be bolted into a wall or floor.

**Q: Does this safe have a large capacity? I am a photographer, is it enough for my camera?**
A: It depends on the size you buy. My 16L tianqinuk safe is enough for me, it's perfect.

**Q: How heavy is this safe? Will it be easily moved away?**
A: The safe weighs around 15 kilograms so the weight of a 3-4 year old child. When you say easily moved away it depends on what you mean. It is not a commerical safe and therefore not that heavy. It can easily be moved if picked up with the door open and moved around a room etc, but to carry it closed is a 2 person job for most people because it doesn't really have any grip points unless you squat and 'hug' it.

Needed to buy a cabinet safe and looked on Amazon. I found this Amazon Basics steel safe and at £100 thought it looked like a great entry level safe.
