I bought this for us when we travel. Sometimes hotels are noisy, and even if the visitors and staff aren't, the outside environment can be.Positives: It's light, so packing it on carry-on for travel is easy.  It can hang upside down from most ledges or rods. You might want to bring a small bungee cord along in the event you need to strap it to what you're hanging it on. It has rubber legs which remove vibration if resting on a hard surface and they definitely do the job.Negatives: Ironically, one of the positives is also a downfall--for our needs specifically. I've bought several of these fans over the years, and the reason for this is to drown out familiar noises we don't want to hear when we are sleeping away from home ie. traffic, neighbors, moment and conversation through the halls etc. This fan is exceptionally quiet even on top speed. Also, it doesn't really move the air around like others I've used.If you have any other questions, feel free to ask me.

I bought two,  The first one failed a couple of months ago.  It ran for over a year.  The other is still going strong after a year and a half.  I replaced the one that died with a 9 inch same model different manufacturer for less money and I run the new one on it's lowest setting to get the same results as this one at it's highest setting.  'Nuff said.

Vibrates very loudly, from day 1. Finally had to get rid of it. The piece where the cord goes into the back of the fan was not secure and vibrated against the main part of the fan and there was nothing I could do about it.
