Nikon 85mm f/1.8G AF-S FX Nikkor Lens - (Renewed)

Excellent lens. Sharp, edge-to-edge. Superb contrast. Fast enough for most applications. Versatile focal length, comparable to my old Leica R 90mm f2.0, at a fraction of the cost. The only con is a relatively long minimum focus distance. I shoot full frame and sometimes find myself wanting to pull in tighter than the lens allows.

I have never ordered used or refurbished camera lens but I thought I'd give it a try as I was saving about 10% off a new one. This lens came with front and back lens caps and lens bag, it had no signs of wears or marks on the outside and hit focus on my test shots (Lens seems to work just fine but only time will tell). What I didn't get was the original box or paperwork however it comes with a 90 warranty. So if you are okay with just 90 day warranty and no original box you'll save about 10% getting a "renewed" lens. As for the Nikon 85mm f1.8 Prime Lens, it's great. The bokeh is very good even at higher F-stops so this lens will be an outstanding portrait lens. This is a great lens option if you can't afford the $1400 on the f 1.4 model.

I have been wanting to get the 85mm 1.8 for quite a while now. When I saw this 'renewed' version on Amazon I thought I would take a chance. It was about $200 cheaper than new - that's a lot on this reasonably affordable lens. I have a 35mm, a 50mm and a 70-300 which technically covers the 85mm focal length, but that's at f4.5 - f5.6. After reading numerous reviews and watching videos, I thought I would like the 85mm for my uses, which is typically taking candids of the kids around the house. I use it on my Nikon D800. The lens came and was as described. The lens does have slight cosmetic wear - nothing remarkable, maybe just a little fading or softness of the edges from use. However, optically and mechanically it works perfectly. I have enjoyed using it and now keep it mounted as my primary lens. The only thing that kept me from giving it five stars was that it didn't come with the lens bag, lens hood or original lens cap on the camera side (the twist on one) - it did have the original cap for the outside. I would definitely consider buying a used/renewed lens from this seller again in the future.

I’ve never bought a refurbished lens before, but took a chance that it would perform well, and it does! Saved money and got a great product! I don’t do many portraits, but when I do, I wanted the 85mm gold standard lens for this kind of work. The lens is sharp as a tack, and works for me! I know there’s a f1.4, more expensive version available, and I’m sure it’s worth the expense if portraits are your main focus, but I’m happy with this one. I’d recommend Beach Camera to my friends for future purchases.

Everything came as advertised. The lens was carefully packaged and included extra packing to prevent damage. The lens was as described and couldn’t be more happy with the purchase. I would recommend this company and would buy from them again in the future.

I just got this lens delivered and decided to try it out. The images attached were taken with it ... hand held on a Nikon D500. I have a number of lens ... but this one is great for doing creative photography from a photography enthusist perspective. It's also very reasonally priced for a 85mm 1.8 lens with this level of image quality and clarity.

The color fringing was crazy-bad and the autofocus was abysmal. Based on reviews on this model of lens, I assume a new model wouldn’t have had this problem. I tried a variety of tests using a tripod, timer, and various lighting to eliminate the possibility of focus issues being related to camera shake, but only manually focusing gives any sharpness. Tracking says they received the lens several days ago, but I’m still waiting for them to acknowledge receipt and issue a credit.

This lense worked perfectly. Never would have known it was refurbished. Such a clean, crisp photo. But be warned. I am a beginner and didn't realize i would have to stand 8 feet away to get a head phot. My mistake. My fault. Just letting the other beginners know. It's an amazing lense.
