Perfect daily lattes for 16 months now
I have been using this frother daily for 16 months and it’s still giving me perfect breve lattes. I get up, pour the half and half to the lower max line, make my espresso, start my partner’s drip coffee, then turn around, pour the espresso into the frother along with the half and half and I have a lovely, foamy, perfect cup that fits my hot Stanley cup exactly. And fyi, no, I’m not one of those Stanley water bottle women; this is my anti-spill-I-have-ADHD-and-I’m-a-klutz cup. lol. Obviously if you prefer, you can pour the espresso directly into your cup, but I prefer mine mixed. My son moved back in to go back to school a year ago, and he also makes a daily latte with milk. Every Saturday my partner likes a cold, whole milk latte and it works amazingly for that too. When my other kids visit they make themselves hot mochas, or hot lattes and my vegan kids do that with soy milk or almond milk. This frother has gotten a lot of use and still works perfectly. I know you can get a battery powered frother for less money, but this is hassle free. You just pour it and forget it until it beeps, which is about 3 or 4 minutes, and you never have to worry about burning the milk. Protip - if you love foam like me, pour it off and drink it immediately. I even bring this frother with me when I go out of town (except camping). For a wonderful, hotel latte that’s way better than Starbucks, I pre-make the espresso (I’ve done 3 days worth), put it in a jar, store it in the hotel mini-fridge, with some milk or half and half, plug in the frother and easily make it in the morning. In this case, since I want a hot latte and have cold, espresso, I put the espresso in a bit earlier so it will also heat up and not just to mix it. I actually had never made at-home lattes before I bought this. I was a drip coffee person unless I was buying at a coffee shop. I don’t like black coffee, and I always added cream and sugar, but then I needed to cut back on carbs/sugar because of health reasons, so I decided to try this, and now I would never go back. I do not have a lot of time or patience before work, and this makes my morning coffee ritual easy and lovely. It’s probably saved me a lot of money since I prefer it over the occasional Starbucks latte.

Best Frother Available!
I am absolutely obsessed with this product. I don't normally write reviews but this one definitely needs a shout out. I have used other frothers in the past, and truthfully I don't really drink a lot of milk-based coffee drinks. However, I wanted to try some lattes and such and so I bought a frother. The first one I purchased was a solid unit and literally within a month it was dead. I guess from washing it or my attempts to clean it because sometimes the milk would burn at the bottom of it. So when I was searching for my replacement I wanted to see if I could find something that had a completely detachable piece that I could wash and this was it. This gadget is absolutely incredible. It has three different settings that you can froth the milk, it creates a ton of froth depending on the type of milk that you use and the manufacturers indicated what type of froth you will get depending on the type of milk that you use within its instructional manual. It's quiet and when it is operating you can hardly hear it. It has a beeper that notifies you that it's done frothing your milk. And most importantly, you can remove it from his base and wash it in the sink or in the dishwasher and it is incredibly easy to clean. This product is so sturdy and so well-made and I cannot be more impressed. I actually feel like I'm getting that barista feeling when I remove the metal frothing pot and pouring it into my coffee. I did admittedly try to make an eggnog latte (Which I think was the reason my first frother died) and so I poured the eggnog into this frother and immediately it knew that this wasn't going to be a good idea and it would not allow me to froth. For that, I very much appreciate it. It's a little pricey, but worth every penny.

It's a little slow and inconsistent, but then, so am I
I primarily use this for heating and lightly frothing milk for my morning lattes/macchiatos/cappuccinos/whatevers so I can only speak to how well it does that. And it does it pretty well. The milk gets hot without scalding, there's just enough froth, and I can make enough for two cups at a time so my wife and I no longer have to thumb-wrestle over who gets their coffee first. It's also pretty nice for heating up cider to just the right temperature. I'd buy another one of these in a heartbeat. Pros: it's easy to use (one button you press one, two, or three times), easy to clean (dishwasher-safe), and holds about two cups' worth of whatever you're heating. I also like that there's a place in the base to store the frother you're not using so no more rummaging through the junk drawer. Cons: It does take a while to heat up that two cups of liquid. Some mornings it'll spin for nearly ten minutes. Heating up one cup is a lot faster, of course. When it finishes, sometimes the milk is closer to tepid than hot. It can be loud as well, like the wails of a thousand tortured souls, but that's rare. All those together are worth about a star, but not nearly enough to recommend against it.

Love it! *WHILE IT LASTED*
2nd UPDATE My second one also died at 6 months. I'm going to try my luck a different brand. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- This thing is awesome! I was worried it would be an overly niche appliance that I would use a few times before realizing it was too much of a hassle (sorry juicer...), but it has turned out to be super versatile and easy to clean. So far I've been using it several times a day! I've used it for: -Cocoa -Golden milk -Reheating tea or coffee I've yet to try adding MCT oil to "bulletproof" drinks, but I bet it would work well for that. The cold frothing setting would probably be great for mixing superfood/green powders. I did find that the frothing whisk is a bit overzealous (for my taste) for most applications and have been using the milk heating whisk instead, but I'm sure it will have its uses. I'm so glad I bought this thing! It is my favorite kitchen appliance, hands down. I have a 3-month-old baby, and now I can easily make myself a nice beverage without even having to put her down -- there's no need to get near a stove and it's more convenient than a microwave because it mixes things for you too! My only regret is not getting this sooner! --------UPDATE--------- The disk no longer spins very well, and the motor makes a grinding noise toward the end of the cycle. I expect it to die any day now. However, I still love it and am getting a new one! I've used it at least once a day (some days upwards of four times!) for 6 months. It has been incredibly convenient. I've been "bulletproofing" drinks left and right, and it works beautifully! The MCT oil does not separate out, I don't lose heat during mixing, and I only have to clean one appliance (not including the coffeemaker, but my husband drinks regular coffee so we would be cleaning that either way). Anyone who likes to put MCT oil in their drinks should absolutely get this, it's a gamechanger!

This is the second one I have purchased- I really LOVE this machine and this is why.......
This is my second one of these- the first one I owned lasted a very long time with heavy use. When it started to die, I was glad to find it still available online. I originally read reviews with complaints about the noise. I found with my first one that it made some noise, but all I had to do was to grab the handle and slide it around on the base to find the "Sweet Spot" where the sound disappeared. So do not allow the reviews about being noisy deter you from buying this machine! It works GREAT. And my new one is even quieter. Be forewarned that the minimum amount of milk you can put in the frother is quite a lot, in fact too much for my cherished coffee mug, so I have had to switch over to a larger mug to accommodate all the foam, or I just split it with my husband. The little agitator in the middle stays on with magnetism, so be sure to wash the frother by hand, and not in the dishwasher with the agitator still in so you don't lose the agitator. I actually leave the agitator in when I wash it- I have a little dish brush that gets any milk residue off the inside that I swish around the agitator and the agitator stays on. Make sure you DRY both the outside and underside of the frother before putting it back on the base. You are not supposed to get the base wet at all. I love this machine and this being my second one there are some improvements, i.e. the MIN and MAX markings on the inside of the frother are much easier to read now. And it can make plenty of froth for many cups of coffee if you are making several cups at once. It takes under three minutes for the froth to be ready, so have your coffee ready because the froth eventually will return to liquid if you dawdle too long. So this is an awesome machine. I missed another one I had previously to these because that one made exactly how much I wanted and since I could not find another, I bought this one, but I love it and Ihighly recommend it. Just so you know, It works great for hot chocolate for my grandson too. It feels a little expensive, but my first one lasted so long with so much use that i did not hesitate to buy it again. P.S. there is a second milk heating agitator that is stored underneath the base- to heat but not froth milk. That works great too. UPDATE: I bought this second one two months ago and it occasionally makes dreadful squealing noises, alas, but it still works fine.

Buy it
Short review: Buy it! This milk frother is an excellent purchase. The fact it has no Teflon and is bird safe is just an added plus. Easy to clean and spare parts availability is an added incentive. I did watch a YouTube video review of this product before using. I like cold froth and this does an excellent job with 2% milk. Being low fat and cold, the froth quickly dissipates so do not get distracted from your “bararista-ing.” I have not tried re-frothing the milk. I have used a hand pump frother and a battery powered whisk. This machine is my favorite. Give it a try, you might be pleasantly reminded of a movie scene from “When Harry Met Sally.” I plan to purchase additional ones as gifts.

Works well
Edit 6/2020: I still love my frother, but wanted to add a note. If you purchase this, do yourself a favor and buy the extra disks at the same time. In May, less than a year after I had purchased the frother, I found that the heating disk was not working properly and was moving much slower than normal, until one morning, it wouldn’t move at all. (I don’t use the frothing disk because it makes way too much froth, so I pulled it out to see if it worked, which it did. Examining both disks, I found that the bottom of the heating disc was very worn down. With the magnetic spin, it made sense. So after a certain time (and as I mentioned in my original review, I use it a lot) it wears down to where it doesn’t make proper contact and won’t spin. While I waited for the replacement set to arrive, I played around with the frother disk and cut off all the little ‘legs’ and used that. It still made more froth than I wanted, but it wasn’t a big deal and it worked well as a substitute. I have used Secura Frothers for several years. I make a hot cocoa type drink with raw cacao powder at least once a day, and usually twice a day; so the frother gets a lot of use. The ones I’ve owned previously have had the non-stick interior with the motor underneath. Not easy to clean, and after some time, a scorched area would inevitably form on the bottom. As I was perusing Amazon looking for a new one, I was excited to see they had this one with a stainless steel cup! I’ve been using it for three weeks now, and a few things to note. Pros: I love the ease of clean up! I can just leave it in the sink if I feel like it, and it doesn’t matter. It heats and froths milk as well as I would expect from a Secura product. And I like that I can put the cacao powder directly into the cup with the milk and it blends everything nicely. Cons: this is a noisy machine. It works magnetically, so I’m guessing that’s the cause. It’s certainly not a deal breaker, but the noise can be loud. Sometimes it makes a lower humming noise, like a plane taking off, and that’s ok. But sometimes it makes a screechy noise and I leave the kitchen. If you can’t stand nails on a chalkboard, you might have a problem with this model. Sometimes I can rotate the cup around and it will settle down, but more often than not, it screeches and I just wait it out. Which brings me to the next issue; it takes longer than the old machine did to heat the milk. My previous machines had the milk ready in less than two minutes. This one takes five minutes if I add the cacao to the milk. If I run it with just the milk, it’s 4:30. For me, the stainless cup makes up for the other inconveniences and it was well worth purchasing.
