Tricky first setup but brilliant when working!
So, with me being only an occasional gamer, one of my biggest frustrations of the last 15 years is not having the ability to switch on a console, put in a CD and play a game of my choice without having to wait 48hrs for software or updates to download to my console. I remember the good old days when you could pick and choose at your leisure and not have to labour under the manufacturers assumption that you want to play one game solidly for the next 3 weeks! So, on a fit of nostalgia I decided to dig out my old PS2 and see if it still worked as my wife and I loved playing Olympics and it seems none of the modern consoles have an olympic games game (WTF!?!). Having found the console stored in the garage, I realised that it would not connect to any of the Tvs/Monitors in my house without an adaptor, which is when I found this little work of art. Having bought it and connected it to the console, I still found that I could not get it to show a picture as the console was set to the wrong mode and despite reading the instructions and having several attempts, I could not get it to work. Thankfully, I found that my old TV bed in our spare room actually had a TV with a SCART socket and within a couple of minutes of having a screen to work with, I had the right settings on the console. My worry then was what the picture might be like upscaling to my Samsung Q7 TV but I have to say, as you will see from the picture above - the quality is absolutely excellent! Nice clear picture with no obvious issues (so far anyway). Looks like we can have a return to those halcyon days of immediate gaming, with the games we want, when we want to play them. Excellent!

Simple & Effective
Alright when going to purchase this product I seen a varying level of ease in use to this product but in my personal opinion the paperwork with the item and images combined should get you through in under 10 minutes. I used the first method of having a scart tv on the way out changing it to the Y output before swapping the converter in the back and sticking the usb small end in the side of the device then the front into the ps2s usb port and shes working no problem.

Works well but connecting cable doesn't allow you to stand the ps2 on its end to save space.
The product works very well and was easy to set up. Unfortunately, when I tried to stand the ps2 on its end so that it would take up less space, I couldn't do this due to the design of the connections on the dongle. The connector for the cable that supplies the dongle with power from a USB socket on the front of the ps2 sticks out too far and doesn't allow you to stand the ps2 on its end. Very disappointing.

There are far better ones
I used this connection for a couple of years and eventually got tired of it and searched for a better one. It's quality is fine, but with me at least it didn't fill the whole screen which is a 4K tv, but left a gap of an inch or two around the edges which is just not good. It also is not compatible for playing PS1 games on a PS2 console. But most people will play the games that way because the PS2 was designed with awesome backwards compatibility, which is part of why it was so successful, so that is extremely limiting. The connection at the back was also very flimsy and loose. So for those reasons I would definitely not recommend this. I would recommend the cable by Levelhyke. It may be slightly more, but is definitely worth the extra because you will get higher quality and it supports PS1 games on a PS2 console. Don't get this one.

Awesome Product
I bought this being slightly skeptical about it working but it really does. It brings new life to my old PS2 and now I have got it setup at work! One important bit to make sure is step one when you open the box (that I stupidly didn't do) is RTFI or read the flaming instructions! it is clear and concise and worked perfectly after I had done it Thanks

Mixed opinions
Followed the instructions, picture came on absolutely fine; However, the picture seems to be extremely jittery. It’s bouncing up and down ever so slightly which as you can imagine, makes it rather difficult to play anything on lol. Not sure if there’s a solution to this, or I’m going to have to fish out an old tv.

Works once you follow instructions but PS1 games won't work with it
Works fine once you follow instructions but does not seem to work for PS1 games in the PS2. Just cuts out on start up and loses connection.

Brilliant
Works absolutely fine! I got my PS2, plugged this in the back, powered it (and the console) up and it worked immediately! From my experience, I didn't need to change any settings and I can get back to playing Star Wars Battlefront like I was eleven all over again! One very slight issue is that the power port for the converter is on one side of the device. Unfortunately it is on the side where the ferrite bead for the PS2 power cable is, so things are a it squished when plugging them in, but otherwise the device is working perfectly!
