The angled base makes the use much more comfortable. The ability to switch between 2 computers with a press of a conveniently located button with illuminated indicaters is one of the best features.Note, the ball does require periodic cleaning. Not the ball really, its the 3 rollers inside the cavity. It will build up dirt and the ball will eventually become unsmooth.
